ItsASecret, it says it on the packaging of the Metrogel. In lab tests they discovered that rats could develop cancer.
I know of the possible cancerous side effects, though it is of course still not a concrete example of a cancer source so one cannot say it causes cancer. I like to know that people are obtaining information from scientific sources, such as the sides of boxes (which do have tests behind the reasoning for their printing). Too many people use the information sources that will say "omg it says possible risk to develop cancerous cells so it obviously means it will cause cancer in everyone omg omg doctors are evil!!"...that sort of disinformation, that is why I ask people who say "cancer risk" should support their statements with a real scientific source and not from those that provide misguided information.

As for a better solution, eating yogurt will be a better source if a person wants to avoid antibiotics. Yogurt is pure bacteria with some sugar (just get the ones that say with added acidophilus. The sugar will obviously cause problems but as long as it is not like super fruit with extra sweetener it is okay lol. Antibiotics do their job and kill specific types of bacteria, but some broad spectrum as the name states will kill everything. What the information leaves out is that bacteria can replicate in less time than it takes for the antibiotic to start working, so technically the 'good' bacteria will grow back far faster than anyone claims. When it comes to microbiology and infections all a person can really do is maintain good health and hygiene. Drink a lot of water and that will flush out bacteria, good and bad, but the natural bacterial flora and fauna of the vagina will grow back even if they are washed out by consuming a lot of water. However in that case the bad bacteria will not be there unless they can re-infect the area.

Metrodinazole has shown evidence of carcinogenic activity in a number of studies involving chronic oral administration in mice and rats. Prominent among the effects in the mouse was the promotion of pulmonary tumorigenesis. This has been observed in all six reported studies in that species, including one study in which the animals were dozed on an intermittent schedule (administration every forth week only). At very high doze levels approximately 500mg a day, there was statistically significant increase in the incidence of malignant liver tumors in males.... Need I say more? How much more scientific studies do I need to know that it may cause cancer in the long run? BTW cigarettes also don't cause lung cancer right?
And also the pills that I bought say that they have over 1000000mil live cells. Are they wrong? Is this misinformation?

I never by any means implied that doctors are evil. I came across a negligent doctor, because I have a reason to say so. I got multiple UTIs after May when my first exam was. I got such a bad bladder infection, that emergency room sent me for a $1000 cat scan. All these could have been prevented if she had just tested me then. This is alarming, the important thing is that doctors sometimes don't care. You have to do your research and not be blind, be your own advocate.

No, I am saying this is exactly what scientific research is. I am saying that too many people go to the internet for information and do not look for such studies, or look for multiple studies of such type. Too many people look on the internet and look at non-scientific sources (for example a blog may say ____ causes cancer but then they refuse to supply a scientific source-that is the type of misinformation I am referring to ) and that type of misinformation information is the problem. I am simply saying that looking on the box for example is more of a scientific source than again for example reading on a blog that they believe something is a potential carcinogen. I am saying that your source of the box is a good thing, not a bad thing.

And also the pills that I bought say that they have over 1000000mil live cells. Are they wrong? Is this misinformation?
No, in reference to synthetic pills I am saying they are synthetic and not the pure 'natural' source. Misinformation would be saying "taking acidophilus will cure everything and anything because we feel better on it"....that sort of statement is misinformation because it does not cure everything and anything but some internet sources will still word things into misinformation.

I never by any means implied that doctors are evil.
No no I never meant to imply you said that, you never mentioned that type of wording. I was referring to other people that just over exaggerate which leads other people into problems when they are looking for information. Doctors do like to sift through patients quite quickly though and I do agree that sometimes they do not care. It is unfortunate but yes people do not need to sometimes take matters into their own hands and ask more questions. There will be doctors that do care and a person, if they see fit, will look until they find that one they are comfortable with.

Hi Kgivens i do understand becasue i'm in the same boat. everything you mention above is the same exact samething i went thru and is still going thur. My husband is very understanding but yet it still embarrasing with the smell. I nt for sure if he understands what casues it. i'm so frustrated because it keeps coming back and if not treated it just there and sometimes get worse. I'm so immune to flagyl. metrogel .75 (5 refills) until it doesn't work anymore. I went to this other doctor that gave me some sample pills to take to see if they work. I haven't taken them yet bc i know there's no use. Please let me know how everything works out for you with wht you using. I so tempted to try the acv.

                      Hello Gatorgal,
I am not sure if you can read or receive my reply since your last blogged was on 2008. I have had done a lot of research about BV as I myself suffered for a month now. I had it last October 2011 (last month) and I underwent vaginal swab culture and luckily the result was "No significant growth". But itchiness and fishy smell discharge is back after my monthly period. So I decided to do the home remedy because almost all my research women encourage to do the home remedy and yours is more specific researched that I have read.

Clarification: 1. Can I use hydrogen peroxide for douching? Using the plastic container intended for douching?
                      2. Folic Acid should be taken orally? sorry if I sound so dumb, I just want to make sure I am following your procedure correctly.
                      3. Instead of syringe, can I replace it with the plastic container (I was using it for betadine douching) in using the hydrgen peroxide.
                      4. For how long I will do this all home remedies?

Thank you so much and surely I will get back to you for the results.

I just want to clarify something, Folic Acid will be taken orally? (sorry if I sound so dumb, but I just want to make so sure.
