You may be lucky and not get cramps or not bad ones at least. You'll know better after a few months.

Use whatever feels comfortable to you. Just be sure to educate yourself regarding TSS. Use the lowest absorbancy tampon that is comfortable to you. Don't use the supers thinking you won't have to change them as much. I change mine every 4-6 hours depending on flow. I use tampons 99% of the time, but I don't use them at night.

No - just don't use super and think you can leave it in for 10. I believe rule of thumb is don't leave a tampon in longer than 8... I alter between light, normal and super depending on flow from day to day.

No worries, that's what we're here for.

It's all going to depend on what you like and what works best for you. Everything I use is unscented for one. Switch around until you find what works best for you. I'm 31 and I've finally settled on Tampax Compak Pearl and when I do use a pad, I use Always UltraThin. If you are leaking at night, use a heavier absorbency pad, super or overnights.

Over night pads are great because they are longer and thicker. You will have to try different types and see what you like. I always disliked the ones with "wings" The same is true of tampons, there are different types of applicators and everyone has their preference. It is better avoid the scented stuff, it can irritate your tissues.

It may take you several months before your period is regular. It's a really good idea to keep track, just a little code on your calendar, Track start and stop as well as heavy and light days. Once you know your own cycle you will have a better idea what you need and when.

Mine started out terribly irratic and I would bleed for weeks, my daughter had the same problem. Cramps were almost never and issue for me but one of my sisters would be literally doubled up, in pain for a couple of days. She would miss school, Fortunately she out grew it and hasn't had any trouble as an adult. For light cramping, some exersize or a brisk walk can work wonders.

Welcome to the world of women dear one !

When I first started my period I only used pads. My mom wanted me to wait before switching to Tampons. The reason I even asked her was the nightime leaking.

What I eventually found worked was the best absorbency overnight Always pad, and (this may sound weird) tuck the very back end into your butt crack. Most of my leaking was out the back and everywhere from there. Tucking the end caught the slow leaking and absorbed it. Other than that, try to make sure the pad is snug against you, I guess... I remember that nightmare of ruined sheets for the first few months...

                      The best Tampons:

I used Tampax for the longest time, and when I tried another brand I felt like an idiot for being so loyal to Tampax! Playtex turned out to be way better, and now I love o.b. Plus the lack of applicator means less waste, and easier to stash in your pocket! Buy a few sample packs and see what works for you!
