I went to the doctors office last Monday and and she wanted to put me on metro gel again. I was very frustrated and nearly in tears. I felt like I was practically begging her her to look over all of the information that I had brought in with me and let me try the estrogen cream or hydrocortisone suppositories. She said that she would look over the info later and consult another og/gyn. In the mean time she did another vaginal exam and told me that my ph is still normal and other than the discharge- 'everthing looks fine.' grrrrr! I look anything but fine- unless being all red and puffy down there is considered fine nowadays! Now I have to go back on Thursday to get the results and - lucky me- pay another co pay. Hopefully though she will have read through the info and start me on a new regimen. I want to try something I havn't tried before. I mean what the is the sense in repeating failed treatments or something that works while your on it and the symptoms come right back as soon as you quit taking it?
Anyway I was reading on some doctors office web- site that they treat DIV with vitamin d because they have noted a vitamin d deficiency in women with DIV. I havn't seen that anywhere else , though. I have also read about the colloidal silver. I am a Liitle leary of using it yet- I don't think our bodies excrete it thoroughly or something like that so it bilds up and can be toxic or fatal with long term use.

I take vitamin D because I thought it might help me but it hasn't made any difference, don't assume it won't for you though because it might! I'm still toying with the colloidal silver idea, apparently as long as you buy it from a reputable seller (don't ever try to make it at home or you could turn blue!!) it's a low enough dose to be safe but you can use it topically rather than ingest it if it worries you drinking it. The recommended dose for drinking it is tiny though too so I'm still thinking about covering both angles. What worries me is that some of these companies might just be flogging plain old water to us and I don't want to get ripped off!!

Oh yes and I'm having the same problem getting anyone to let me try the oestrogen cream, they seem to think if you aren't through the menopause it isn't an option even though there's stacks of evidence about women using it before the menopause. My GU Consultant has written it as a suggestion for the vulvar dermatologist I'm seeing next month but if she vetoes the idea it looks like I won't be getting to try it full stop.

I am having a similar problem except mine is with yeast. My pain started after a round of antibiotics for a uti and hasnt really gone away since. The doctors tell me they see yeast on the wet mount and white blood cells but the cultures are negative. What is going on? I'm so lost and confused and dont want to do more treatments. Mine has only lasted a few months but i dont want this turning into years. What have people told you to do?

Sarah I hope the vulvar specialist let's you try the estrogen cream! One of the websites I have visited told of a 7 year old little girl that had vulvar issues ( i think had a discharge too, though) and they actually prescribed the estrogen cream for her and it cleared up her symptoms. They had many different case studies with women of various age ranges and not the exact but similiar signs and symptoms that otherwise were unable to be diagnosed conventionally. Anyway also please post if you try the colloidal silver and how it works. I went to the the only natural health food store here in town and they want $30 for a very small bottle! I have spent a lot of money on this pesky problem of mine and i have to go back to the doctor today. I just don't want to spend more on somehting that isn't going to work. I was also wanting to ask you about the pelvic floor exercises- is that like the kegel exercises or is their more to it? Does it help?

The colloidal silver is alot cheaper if you buy online, that's what I intend to do! The pelvic floor exercises are typical kegels with fast and slow contractions but it depends what's happening with your pelvic floor. Mine is weak and in spasm so the idea for me is to strengthen them to the point of fatigue each day so they gradually get stronger and don't have the power left afterwards to spasm! It's going to take a long time before I know if they're working, my Hypermobility Syndrome complicates things for me because it takes my muscles alot longer to strengthen than anyone elses (typical) so I've ordered a Pelvic Floor Educator to be absolutely certain each time I do them I'm doing them correctly. It's inexpensive and provides feedback on whether I'm doing them right so hopefully that will arrive soon.

Be extremely careful of buying chemicals and pharmaceuticals online, they are often not what they say they are.

I already have a couple of reliable sources so I would buy from them if I buy any, thanks for the warning though but I'm already cautious about it.

Oh my gosh. This Clindamycin cream is driving me crazy! Any time I have discharge, or in this case discharge+all this cream building up, I get a lot of pelvic pain. It has been so bad today! I wish there was some way to tell if this is actually working or what. I know when I was on the Flagyl cream I had a lot of the side effects that are usually seen with the oral form, but this, I don't know. I don't recall having a weird pain or any sort of weird reaction to the Clindamycin previously. Anyone been having issues with their meds prescribed, particularly the gels/creams?

Amelillo, I've never used the cream form of Clindamycin, but I had TONS of problems with other gels/creams. Metrogel (Flagyl cream) was really bad, made me miserable the whole time I was on it.
