missbutterfly:, I used to insert lactobicillubus because that's the one you want to fight off vaginal yeast and infections. Didn't help me or make any difference. I later found out that putting probiotics up there has NOT scientifically proven to be effective, AND can cause an overgrowth of bacteria, so I stopped doing that. I'm glad it helped yours though and that is what matters.
chaulupmom: Hope your yeast stays away for now. I have been looking into oral probiotics, I may bit the bullet and buy the Phem dophilus since it got very good reviews. The boric acid really helped with my itch, and I used it for a few months, nightly. It caused a huge discharge though. Messy. Keep us posted.

      HI Viola
Unfortunately in Australia it was hard to get the boric acid things and hard to find a chemist over here to know what it is and to make it up, I also had issues with importing it I have heard good reviews on it and hope that whoever uses it, it helps. I use to do what you did with the probiotics and well... It can work and cant work from time to time. I say just dose up on the oral ones as well as Multi Vs, I found that as soon as my vitamins where up and the probiotics where too, it did help before the swap in contraception.

Missbutterfly - I hope that this is a fix for you and it helps, try also douching in white vinegar and water and this should help as well (one of my two gyno's recommended it). I know that you've probably read about douching and how its not recommended, however, its excellent and I found it did help.

Viola and Jayci: I think scientific evidence is different all over. You can find lots of evidence and case studies were its a miracle and others where its not for every single FDA medication OTC medication vitamin and herb out there! You gotta do whats best for you. I wasnt going to take diflucan or antibiotics etc.. anymore I developed gastritis from to much medication! Now I suffer with a burning stomach. You do whats best for you at the end of the day. I have found probiotics to not only internal by mouth help my gastriits but down there to help my yeast and prevent other problems my gyno has no issue with it and prescribed it. I would not put yogurt probiotic down there if you were doing that doesn't sound to great I wouldn't put food down there but these are made for vaginal insertion. I would never douch thanks for the suggestion though it causes me severe itching. If your a person though that doesnt suffer much from yeast infections a random monistat or diflucan is no big deal, but for those it happens every single month over and over and over you have to have other options.

Well I went vegetarian may of helped some in not feeding the yeast, other than that nothing else but the other things I mentioned. Are they actual finding yeast on your papsmears? They did every period cycle for me, I used a diva cup as well for my periods i figured with less pads or tampon it would help.

No not every papsmear, what my doc and gyno took where swaps and grew cultures, unfortunately because yeast can take awhile to grow, it use to come back with nothing, however, one day my doc asked for it to be grown for 10 days, came back and was told yeast. So my gyno realised that was the problem the next swab she took, she found out yeast as well. My papsmears have been normal, however the last one wasnt, I think it was just because of being inflamed etc there. Have to go back and get another one done in a couple of months.

Hi, I've been ok, but a nervous wreck. I am still on the meds (2) and no results yet, may not know until next week. I still have vaginal itch at times. Always wondering if I have an underlying allergy or food sensitivity. So far, all tests show no allergys. Also, I have suspected I have an unkown protozoa that my feeling is that it is the culprit of the yeast. Big problem - can't diagnose it, it was diagnosed as "unkown taxonomy" so am always guessing at the treatment. Trying to get a visit with an infectious disease doctor who my gyno has consulted with about my case. My situation gets more and more complicated. Other theorys, heavy metal toxicity can block your body from healing. I don't have any obvious symtoms of that, but want to get tested. I think I need Dr. House's Team to help me here.

viola, i don't know about you, but i have never had any problems with "down there" until this happened. i have had two kids, no std's, no bacterial infections, and up until now no yeast infections. i am so angry sometimes that this has happened to me!!! i am actually seeing a therapist because of it! i am constantly dwelling and thinking about how my crotch feels on a day to day basis. i just want this to be over all ready! even though things "look" really good down there now, i still feel like it is NOT 100%. do you look normal, or is there signs of irritation? that is the most frustrating thing about all of this, and i think it is one of the reasons women like us don't get the right treatment at first.
hang in there, i am trying have you tried gentian violet yet? my doc. just "paints" it on the skin of your vulva. i had two treatments, i have seen improvement since then. it doesn't hurt, just stains, so you have to wear a pad. the reason we went with that is because we think the yeast may have invaded the tissues too, and wanted to see if it would help. oh well, keep us up to date on how you feel. i'll let you know how i am doing!
