I spoke with my gynocologist and with my yeast specialist. both seem to think that now what is happening is something allergic. I will try to get an appt. with a female dermatologist next week.

i have an appointment on monday with a dermatologist as well. i have some skin issues and allergies, but have no idea exactly what i am allergic too. he is going to do a scratch test so we can rule out some things. when this first started, all my doctors assumed it was an allergy to something, and i had just switched dryer sheets prior to the problem. however, typically as soon as you take away the allergen, you get better, which is what i did, and did NOT get better. so we assume now it is actually a yeast infection. i mean, what else could it be?!!!!! so frustrating. hope you find out soon!!

allergy in your vagina with discharge? You changed to a plain soap, fragrance free laundry detergent etc right...I mean you didn't start a new product when this happened right? I'm not sure about a allergy in the vagina if you are not using anything to provoke it, unless there is something your not aware of. I dunno about allergy in the vagina if your using everything plain. How will they find the allergy from your vagina with a scratch test? Hope they figure it out though. I use the diva cup and no longer pads or tampons to avoid allergy problems with those two products, and I no latex condoms. Good luck with the doctor!

One more thing if we look at the bare basics of a yeast infection essentially there is more sugar in the vaginal secretions on which the yeast can feed due to a chemical change in the vaginal environment people with diabetes also get yeast infections more frequently, thyroid problems, adrenal issues, and when Estrogen and sugar production peak at the midpoint between periods, and begins to build sugar. That can explain why birth control (more estrogen your putting in your body) can cause more yeast infections, and you also find that around your period you may be more prone to them. Have you had your hormones, thyroid, endocrine-adrenal, insulin looked at?

will they do a scratch test at the dermatologist?? Wow, that would be great!!!! I learned today I was allergic to wheat and tomatoes. There are some other little things, but I'm not touching wheat, dairy or tomatoes. Maybe it will help the itch.

the last appointment i had with the derm. he told me that they would do a scratch test to see if i had any allergies. i am pretty sure it will NOT be on my vulva, but i am assuming if i am allergic to or sensitive to something it wouldn't matter where the test was done. so far i seem to be ok. this is the longest i have gone with out any problems. still not 100% though. maybe the month of diflucan and other treatments finally took care of the yeast. i am keeping my fingers crossed and taking everyday one day at a time.

that's encouraging. I'm going to make an appt. immediatley, although it might take a few weeks to get in....I'm glad your better. Hope it stays that way! my itch is definatley worse around my period. Dr. Crandell says estrogen peaks and that's why. (for women my age, 50) not in younger women.... Also yeast loves to grow in blood...yuck!
