I used to have the same problem for many months and the doctor said it was most likely a chronic case of bacterial vaginosis. He gave me Metrogel and it would go away but then come right back. I didn't want to keep using Metrogel so I tried a more homeopathic approach and started douching with 1/5 cup of distilled water and 1/5 cup of peroxide once a day and upped my folic acid intake. It actually got remarkably better, however, when I would stop the douching it would come back. I finally realized that this is a ph balance issue and that maybe my water intake during the day wasn't sufficient enough to keep my vaginal ph as it should be. I started drinking 4-5 bottles (the 16.9 fl oz size) of water a day and saw an immediate improvement. I even stopped the douching altogether and am now just making sure I drink the 4-5 bottles of water a day and that alone has taken the problem away completely. -
Talk to pharmasist. They will tell you the truth. Yes you and hubby need to be treated. Men can store the bacteria. If you notice a fishy smell after sex, it is not just from you. Tell your Dr that many Dr's are now prescribing and treating
the partner. Tell them to do their research. Swith Dr's if you need to.Leave a comment:

Did you have a papsmear that said you really have BV? If its not growing out as BV or yeast or an infection then it is not an infection and your fighting a dead end battle. I personal would not douche with peroxide and all this other stuff yes you will get dry and you disturb the ph balance. I would leave my vagina alone and stop all the antibiotics its not going to change if you dont really have anything growing on your wet mounts at the gyno. If you do really have BV or yeast the antibiotic would of killed it, if your still having problems down there it could be a ph imbalance that will take time for your own body to heal. You could have something else if it flares during sex non infection wise rather a condition like vulvodynia. I would take Ashoka herb and probiotics and let it balance on its own. If anything a little neem ointment down there for any itching or dryness is about as far as I would go. I think the more you mess with it the more harm you cause the ph balance.Leave a comment:

ugh ok im back to update. the peroxide douche is helping with the discharge and smell. i have to use it everytime me n hubby have sex tho because when he ejaculates inside of me it BURNSSSSS and i get swelling down there. so as of today my vagina feels VERYYYYYY dry. i dont know what to do anymore! i know i still have the infection because it flares up when we have sex, and this peroxide douche is literally drying me out!!! im also taking 1 acidophilus pill a day. im out of ideas here.... no doctor will treat hubby along with me. they keep saying "bv is not sexually trasmitted, ur hubby isnt passing it back to you. he doesnt need to be traeted."Leave a comment:

I think that's too much folic acid to be taking. I have read persons dosing like that but I personally don't believe it's healthy or necessary.
I think the most important thing is that you have seen an improvement, so there can't be any harm in being patient. It's better than making yourself sick or uncomfortable with an overdose.
I have recently begun taking an acidophilus pill a day because it's supposed to help. But everything must be taken in moderation or it may be more harmful than helpful.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I started taking folic acid on Friday and noticed a difference with the smell and discharge within 2 days. Its not completely gone but wow what a difference. I'm not sure how much folic acid is too much though. I was taking 800mcg in the morning for 3 days but recently added an additional 400mcg at night. Is that too much? I don't want to overdose!
I also just started on 1 Fem-Dolphilus tablet twice a day. Crossing my fingers that this fixes the issue.Leave a comment:
