      Progress

I was diagnosed with BV in November and couldn't shake it at all.

However....I went to the Health clinic today and everything seems to be normal! ^______________________________________^

I don't know what did it...I just...tried to do EVERYTHING. I bought the cotton underwear, used dye/color/scent-free detergent and cut out fabric softener and dryer sheets, I began exercising six times a week, started eating REALLY healthily, took multi-vitamins and acidophilus, went off birth control, got counseling about the problem because I was getting close to suicidal and crazy depressed about it, tried douching (DON'T DO IT...BAAAADDD)...

I really hope that it doesn't come back...but I'm so much healthier now as a result. o.o It's nice to feel joyous and in balance again.

I'm sending good thoughts to all you women out there dealing with this right now.

        bacterial vaginosis...penicillin

Is this a quick cure for this? Or does this have to be taken on a daily basis? Or does it even help at all?

          BV--bummer

          Hi all,

I stumbled onto this forum because I just had to disrupt my doctors weekend to tell her i was still having an itch after all the treatment i was receiving.

Mid January i thought i had a yeast infection and the nurses kept giving me all sorts of medication for yeast infections but the lab results actually pointed to a bacterial overgrowth. So a month and a half later i get the "right" medication..BUT..they tell me its just like a yeast infection and I thought finally this crap would be over with. Except..it isnt--I HAD MY PERIOD!! And i dont know if this ruined the effectiveness of my medication..so my doctor is saying to try it for 2 more days and then call her monday (boo!)

I do not have any classical symptoms (no smelly nothing, no real pain) but i have a very minor itch that i think has been controlled by all this medication so it hasnt gotten out of hand. Also a light yellow sometimes a little greenish discharge. Actually LutinLady described what i had perfectly.

I ran out and got acidophilus and a multivitamin though im feeling kind of skeptical about it and deciding that perhaps cutting sugar, bread etc would really help..but who knows :/

Today was the first day that I allowed myself to cry about it--and I was even wondering for a while if I had something else that is refusing to go away since i dont show the classic symptoms.

I am scared now that I see people have suffered with this condition for decades--and i am praaaaying that its not me too. I dont know if anyone will respond to this..but I'm happy to see that I am not completely alone and that others have had a similar experience as mine.

its really a relief to see that so many people are going thru exactly what i have gone thru this past year.. i can't tell you how stressful its been to have chronic bv for about a year now, but ive learned so much on how to manage it and im still learning it.. first of all, all of you guys need to go to enzara.com and order it as soon as possible, it has truely been a miracle for me for the past 6 months.. and it has completely saved my relationship. in addition to that, ive learned that in order to fight bv we must make sure our immune systems are up to par, and i am constantly watching what i eat.. making sure to eat as many veggies as possible, sticking away from ALL sugars, and drinking AS MUCH water possible.. acidopholis pills are absolutely necessary as well... honestly, just follow all of these steps and i really hope the best of luck to all of you..

So you've had no discharge, odor or anything since taking enzara? I actually looked into this today myself...

                Helllo

I've had bv for about 3 years now every 3mths about..it is freakin irritating.

I get put on flagyl or metrozindale all the time it goes away..and I get it back.

I do the cotton panty thing..I do not use soap down there..I don't take baths, I use separate washcloths, I do not use tampons, i do not use detergents or fabric softeners..but I still get it..my mans even been treated..

                IT JUST FREAKN HAPPENS SOMETIMES.

tHERE IS no rhyme or reason..just happens and I HATE IT.

                  VB

I had this for 6 months. Finally I went to an obgyn that did a bacterial culture. Turned out I had E-coli which caused clue cells to show up under the microscope. I don't know why no one seen the e-coli. They had to do a culture to catch it. Boric acid treatments for yeast infection can also let e-coli grow. It kills the yeast all right along with the good bacteria that kills e-coli. Best bet is to take an antibiotic that will kill e-coli along with a antifungal.

                    BV

I forgot to mention that several doctors gave me medicine for BV which did not work. It would get rid of the BV for a little while, but it would come back quick. I had to take an antibiotic to get rid of the e-coli infection that was causing clues cells to show up. when the doc saw clue cells, he did not think of e-coli and neither did the dozen other obgyn specialist until one did a culture.

                      BV Nightmare

I am a 26 year old female who never had BV until I was 24. I had a baby in 2004, and had it once during pregnancy. Since then, I have had it every other month. It is quite embarrassing, but I have noticed one thing that helped. After I had my daughter, I got up to 215 pounds. I had never been thin, but never that big either. I went to the doctor and was given a diet pill along with a 1200 calorie diet to follow. Cutting out the sweets, processed foods, and oils kept me BV free for the longest. I also think that possibly the soap that my husband uses flares it back up as well. Who knows????? I have been on it all, metrogel, flagyl, a steroid cream. At this point, I have accepted BV as a part of my life. A very unpleasant one, but something that I will have to deal with forever.
