cyst on the ovary,tiredness though that that could b my fibromyalgia.bloated ness, though again I suffer from that.Thrush.However I am more concerned about the weight thing. I did weigh 8 stone 5 now I am nearly 9 stone, which is a lot of weight to quickly put on for me. Im also moody, though any of these things could b just a coincidence I suppose. I am not using this for contraception either, just for getting rid of the awful periods that I had.Comment

Yes, the Doctor told me it was not related but I figured as I was still suffering period pains and some bleeding all over the place I may as well take it out. My skin is oily, nothing works on it, the other systems could or could not be related but whatever I have had it taken out now,mayby it just does not agree with me as two other people I know love it.Comment

Mirena Coil
Hi guys - I have been reading your threads and have found them very useful...
I had the Mirena fitted a couple of months ago as I seem to be the most fertile person in history...haha, after 4 weeks I have put on nearly a stone despite my constant obsession with the gym and running around after 3 kids... My skin is spotty all the time, I am feeling very very low and have been ever since I had it fitted and I am in constant pain with it...
I do think this was caused directly by the Mirena as before I had it fitted I was a size 8/10 and now im a 12 and my diet/exercise regime has not changed one bit... In my opinion its excellent contraception in respect that I feel to fat and totally unsexy to go near a man....
I have spoken with a few friends/family members about this and a couple of them experienced similar symptons from the coil, so I wonder why the doctor wouldnt explain these points to patients so they can decide whether they want to feel this way.. My symptons were so apparent that I was paranoid I had managed the immaculate conception, as my stomach looks as though I am 5 months pregnant, my skin is oily and totally spotty, I suffer from bad backaches/ painful breasts and there was me thinking people had this fitted to avoid pregnancy and those symptons ....lol
I am 27 years old and although I have 3 kids, I have always kept in very good shape up until I had this fitted - I am having mine removed next week for some surgery I have to have done, but will not be having it refitted - I would never recommend this to anyone - especially younger women as it really does mess up your body... I have also previously had the copper coil fitted, which I didnt get on with either as one period would last 2 weeks and it was heavier than I have ever had a period before and with that came painful effects...Comment

It is strange as the doctors are adamant that the coil does not put on weight I can not remember Y but it did sound like it made sense. I do think that mayby some of us are just unlucky with it, as I know 2 people on it that are happy and appear not to have the symptoms that I did.\I did find the depo injection did the same so clearly it does affect people differently.
\interesting u say about the oily skin as I work in the beauty industry and my skin is so oily even with products that has not affected it before.
I have hasd it taken out now and I am awaiting to see a specialist as I have developed cysts on the ovary.So I still remain in pain and bleed so often.just back to square one !. Oh and still a size 12 instead of 8.!!!!Comment

Hi
I have my mirena coil fitted 8 months ago. I used combined oral contraceptive pills for 9 years. I really like the mirena coil initially as i didn't have spotting, no period, i didn't seem to have problems with weight gain, my sex life is much much better as compared to before. But recently, i have noticed that i'm having a very bad mood swing. i used to be a calm and patient person, but now I tend to get annoyed and angry quite easily especially at home. i noticed that i'm shouting often, and by doing so, i get really frustrated and disappointed of myself as i didn't want to be a mean person especially to my 9 year old daughter whose also noticing my bad mood. i'm starting to hate myself. it just came to my mine that it maybe the mirena coil as since i had it i noticed the mood swings getting worst. i want to ask if anyone has experienced the same problem? i would like my mirena coil removed but i don't want to go back to OCP? is there any alternative contraceptive that i can use?Comment

Mirena Coil
Hi,
This is my first post - hope I got it right.
I have had my Mirena Coil in since Merch '07 after having gynea surgery. I too have experienced many of the side-effects listed on this blog. Now I have realised that I am not going 'mad' and there are other women out there experiencing the same - i am seriously considering having it taken out.
My concern is that removal won't make a massive difference to - my weight, mood swings, headaches SEX DRIVE etc, and then I will have all that to contend with plus my original problems. Can anybody who has had it removed shed some light on this for me???
Many thanks

Mirena coil
I am having a coil fitted on the reccomendation of my doctor as I have an implanon implant fitted at the moment. I have terrible mood swings with the implant so much I actually hate myself sometimes. Reading some posts though I am worried that these wont stop. Has anybody had any good experiences with the coil at all?Comment

Mirena Coil Turmoil!
Hi ladies,
I have experienced the weight gain although no lower back problems.
I have tried every type of contraceptive due to hormone sensitivy issues . I am allergic to condoms and aneamic thus the copper coil was a no go. So my GP thought Marina would be the best solution. It is 9 months down the track and I have noticed the follow:
* bleed for the first 2 months
* odd period timing 2 weeks every 2 months or 1 week every 5 weeks
* put on 1-2 kg
* got a lot of pimples on my chest
* discharge has changed
* smell different ( I have no STI's)
* bleed after sex sometimes
* little or no libio which has played a significant roll in current relationship (of previously happy 3 years) drama.
I was told that everything after the 6-9 month period should settle down but I am on my way to get the awful coil removed. I just don't think it is worth it!Comment
