The only answer I can offer is that both men and women like this aren't looking for an actual relationship, they are looking for something "lighter", that offers more enjoyment up front. These days casual sex is getting more an more common between both sexes, and so many people assume that if you have not had sex by "x" age or after "x" relationships then your behind the curve.

I say stick to your values, and it may be worth it to look for a different kind of guy if you find that the usual ones you go for fall under the same stereotype. I was 23 when I finally had sex, and it was after I was with my girlfriend for a year and a half. Some really upsetting circumstances ended it a year and a half, but I had fully intended on committing to this woman, so the decision was clear to me.

Thank you for your reply sweetie. I am sure some woman act just as some men do.I don't know if I am coming off to guys as needy, but one of my old guy friends wanted to use me as a friends with benefits type relationship.I am a naturally flirty person but I don't mean to come off as a girl who wants in your pants. And I don't think I do AT ALL.I am only 16,and I think I need to make my first time special.I want to get to know the guy for a while, and be able to trust him.I don't feel like I should have to give myself away to a boyfriend just because he is horny and wants sex.I know there are plenty guys out there who are willing to commit to a relationship, but those guys are so hard to find at my age.

Believe it or not, it's not too different at my age group. A lot of the people i knew growing up either have kids (in and out of relationships) or still act as they did in highschool. I applaud you holding off, it's getting to be a rare thing more and more it seems. You are right on both accounts, you sholudn't feel like you have to give yourself away to anothers desire, and there are plenty of guys out there looking for something real. I think the hard thing in your age group (at least for me 9 years ago) is you never really can tell who those people are. Too many people are still trying to figure out who they are through highschool afterall.

Be patient, and keep you eyes open, you may find a guy somewhere that you never would have guessed.

16 is an awkward age for a girl i'm sure..boys your age are immature and are curious what a woman's body looks and feels like and therefore are too touchy feely..yet dating a 22 year old man who has prolly aready had sex may therefore put undue pressure on you to give it up..take your time, wait for the right guy that you truly care about (as you seem to be doing) before you take that step..

only my opinion but 16 is way too young..there is no rush and i'm glad you see that

Do you think sending emails of fake photos of nude celebrities ok?

Keeping a pic or two of old girlfriends when he's in a new and wonderful relationship (with me). Why does he do it?

(And yes I've asked this question elsewhere before... I don't think it was in this thread though, and would like to get guys' input.)

I have crushes, and I know people who like me.But they are all the 'bad boy' type. And I know that relationship will fall down the drain as soon as I refuse them sexual pleasure.I'de also like to get compfortable with eachothers bodies.

Like sexual activities without sex.Oral, fingering, handjobs, breast stimulations.Basically exploring eachother for a while. Then when 'that' time comes,I will be compfortable and able to satisfy him as well as he can with me.

I'm sure I'm not that boring to be with.I'm willing to try lots of things, but I'm just not willing to give myself up just yet. Many people lose there virginity's at my age, even younger, and that's okay, that's there descision and I don't ludge anyone when it comes to that,I just think I would let myself down if I gave myself away to a guy I knew for a month or two.

I tend to go for the older guys.Only because they are more mature and I think they can be more patient than a 16-17 yr old who is horny, and wanting to explor sex.Hey,i'l admit,I'm a horny 16 year old! Lol Very horny...But just some guys don't have the patients to wait.

I need to stop focusing on the bad boy image I guess. Looks don't mean that much to me,but I love when a boy can get tough and naughty I guess you could say. I know, pathetic, but I just hang around those kind of guys,so I like that in a man.

Well, it's been my experience tha age correlates to maturity about as much as it does to wisdom, you never can tell until you get to know the person. I knew a lot of girls through HS that followed a similar trend, and for most of them it resulted in early sex. It's a catch 22 as being in a relationship with an older partner can often carry a higher expectation, as opposed to a lack of self control.

Dr Mansview said it well, it's a awkward time, the age your at now. All told, I think your doing well, definately better then most of the girls I knew around the time I was 16. I could go on and on about the folly of going for the "bad boy" but people like what they like, and it's more than likely something you may grow out of. You'd be surprised at what you can find though in "nice guys". My ex girlfriend joked often about how she brought out the freak in me, she treated it like a point of pride actually. It definately sounds cliche, but you never really can tell a book by it's cover.

Hang in there, and go with what feels right. HS is too early to be bogged down with such things. Find someone that makes you happy and then take it from there.

Hmm, I honestly don't know about that one. In my case the three breakups that i've had have all been "bad" so we totally cut ties. That being said I couldn't understand why someone would keep the photos of an ex. In my opinion part of moving on is letting go. But like Dr Mansview mentioned, for some it could just be an issue of keeping bits of your history.

For a while I had a hard time believing that good boys had a naughty side. But I come to know more and more that they do. So hopefully my next BF will be a good boy. I'm sure the good boys are more patient and respectful toward women anyway. It's like the bad boys don't respect women as much as the good boys do.
