It varies a lot. Sometimes we just do one thing, sometimes change multiple times - which may be initiated by either of us. Just depends on what we feel like at the moment. There are a couple of "favorite" positions, but doing other things is fun and adds novelty.

If either of you intitiate the change...is the other partner obligated to agree to change? Or can you somehow sense what the other person is thinking? Like what if she wants to continue in standard miss, and you want to get a little doggy action going?

I've never thought of it as "obligated". Usually if one of us suggests a change the other happily goes along, though sometimes one will indicate that they don't feel like that particular activity right now. We mostly enjoy the same things, so it isn't a case of "my favorite" and "her favorite" positions. There are some times one of us will do something we don't particularly like to please the other, just depends on what mood we are in.

Changing positions can keep the excitement level very high. Agreement on changes have to take place unless the change doesn't involve the other partner to a high degree (such as girl changing from cowgirl to reverse cowgirl if possible).
