I guess my response to the things you bring up is just that he's of the age of consent. In the eyes of the law, he could marry or have an affair or do anything else he wanted to with GillT. Is panty gifting really somehow more grave than all the other things they could legally get up to together?
Now I know that assessments about maturity have to be made on the individual level. (A 16 year old over here might be more mature than a 20 year old over there and so on.) But I guess I'm trusting in GillT's judgement of the situation, which I don't think we have any reason to doubt. (Whether we like her thinking on this issue or not, her track record speaks for itself - wife, mother of two, homeowner, not divorced, has custody of her children, not in foreclosure, etc. All that says she is a responsible adult.) So I trust the implicit judgement that the kid can handle this, as I assume that, being a responsible woman, if she somehow thought he might go crazy over it, she wouldn't even be thinking about it in the first place.
On the age/stat thing, it could just as easily be that at the same age, a woman is like a 22 year old rather than an 18 year old (and that he is indeed like an 18 year old).
On returning the panties, I really suspect myself that he's just awkward, and there may actually be some truth to him being unable to hide them well lol. A gentleman maybe not so much though - he did masturbate to them first after all.
Much younger kids get up to all manner of bad behavior ....I think I read somewhere that kids today lose their virginity at age 17 on average. And before that they play a fair amount of grabass and kissyface no doubt.
