To the best of my knowledge, the only state with legalized prostitution is Nevada and only in one county of Las Vegas. It is not legal city wide. The brothels are legalized, the workers pay tax on their earnings, must undergo mandatory STD testing and frequently. It is not legal in Las Vegas to hire a call girl that is walking down the strip and in fact when we were there we saw the police picking up many that were soliciting in bars etc. I believe certain out-girl calls can be made but legally only through the brothels. Certainly cars and limos run around advertising their girls and sometimes even have the girls in the vans and cars as they drive around advertising. In this way a girl can quickly get to a hotel or motel. There is not usually a pimp or a madam, but someone is getting a cut (the manager/owner of the brothel?) and the entire fee doesn't belong to the girl. The difference is that most of these girls are there under their own volition and are not being forced into the sex trade by unscrupulous and questionable pimps/madams. The girls are of age and are not teenagers or kids.

This is true. Getting porn stars in a brothel in Nevada is a good way for the management to make a lot of money and the porn star to make a lot of money. I would suppose the other prostitutes also can make more money from the crowd that cannot afford to go with a porn star.

Correct, the brothels are located just outside of Las Vegas City limits and throughout the State of Nevada. What I was trying to say or thought I said was that it was legal in some counties but not Vegas itself. I stated that, only in one county of Las Vegas.. What I should have said is counties in Nevada but not Las Vegas.

Oh yes so very true the real true porn star is getting anywhere from $1,500.00 to $5,000.00 depends on what you want to do. The normal call girl is more liking getting $200.00 dollars a big difference in price there.

While I'm in favor of legalizing sex work, there is one issue that concerns me a lot - if sex work becomes "normalize", will it start to be expected? Most female college students (and some male ones) can make far more money doing sex work than they can at the usual casual jobs. If this starts to become common, college costs, financial aid, etc may start to adjust to this new norm.

Sex work is very different from anything else I can think of because many people who could do it successfully, would not want to do so even if they were paid well. Most of the posters here would probably be willing to take almost any normal job at 10X their current pay, but many would not be willing to do sex work. Yet, a lot of college women can make $1000/day at sex work, but 1/10 that at generic student type jobs.

Well ever major university in this country has college escorts all down right under the nose of the administration they turn a blind eye to it. Just as long they get there tuition money from the young lady they could give a rat's butt about it.Now some of these same young women are doing porn to put them through college as well.
