Counselling only works if both parties are willing to try. The therapist is only a vehicle to the objective. If the participants have no interest in working towards the objective, then nothing will come of it. Also, you have to find the right therapist that works for you. But again, therapist are not miracle workers. If one or both parties are not willing to actually work towards the relationship, then nothing will be accomplished.
The OP is looking for advice to have a successful dialogue with her spouse. Will the advice we have given her work? Will her husband listen? I don't know, but she is making the effort. To give up before even making every effort to save the marriage would be a great loss. There are example of folks on this forum who have mismatched sex drives that are making it work. It wasn't always working for them, but through communication and a lot of hard work, they are making their relationships work and are happy. Communication and therapy are not guaranteed tools, but they are worth trying.
