It's really not the age of the people but the condition of the relationship that determines the amount of sex that occurs in a marriage. When my SO was married, most of the women in her group (most were in their early 40s) had stopped having sex or had it only when they wanted something from their husbands. Neither are willing to put themselves out to show affection or love because they fear no return. Communication skills could really help but most couples either don't have the skills or see a therapist too late to save things. I also think that couple first marry at a time in their life where they do not have a clue what makes them happy long term or what what makes their partner happy. As the posts here show, sometimes it's years later that people realize they made a mistake.
