    Dating again at 50

Wow, this is a wild and crazy ride! Liberating, yet exhausting and overwhelming at the same time. While being with two women half my age is exhilarating, it is not sustainable longer term. I realize I eventually need to stick to dating women closer to my age.

Not sure how to get over the thoughts that it's slim-pickings in my age group, regardless of all that I have to offer. Most of the single women my age seem to either be focused on looking for a guy to support them financially, still have too much emotional baggage and/or have let themselves go physically for far too long.

The thought of a dating site is about as exciting as shopping on Amazon or reading resumes.

What's a guy to do? Any advice for a 50 year old guy re-entering the dating scene after a 25 year hiatus?

Has something changed in your situation with your wife that I missed? While I wouldn't suggest dating young ladies just out of school, you could possibly make a 20 year difference work with the right lady. I'm not saying it is easy.

Are you divorced, separated, or looking for sex outside your current arrangement? I guess those answers are where my feedback would stem from.

Yeah... I am still stumped on how he said shopping on Amazon is not exciting... They have killer prices.

I am sorry if this seems a bit harsh, and I say this with a modicum of humor, but the first thing I'd do is get over yourself. You do not look the same as you did when you were 25 or 30 and I am sure have baggage of old relationships as well. There are not "slim pickings" in the female 40-50 year old demographic. In fact, I would say just the opposite because most men in their 50s want to look for women in their 30s. Where are you currently looking?

You are right, dating women of your generation is far more fulfilling. They get cultural references. They generally have more substance than younger women and know exactly what they want out of a relationship. They are usually givers, not takers, and want to please their partners. Another good thing is that you won't be mistaken for your date's father.

Online dating is not for everyone, but its far from boring. You can also frequent places that are more upscale or cater to an older crowd -- they exist in every city. But don't have preconceived notions about "older women". They are not old, usually have steady jobs or income and look really good. My SO is 47 and still turns heads at restaurants. Rather than the perfect body (most have had a few children) set your sights on a woman who will bring you happiness by being a great friend, a trusted partner and a great lover. JMHO.

Very good point. Honestly agreed with everything. And I sort of wish I got to try online dating. Looks fun. BUtterflies for every meeting.

Wow i completely agree with all of this as my wife is 50 and will give men whiplash checking her out from all angles still. I for one wouldn't want a younger women I have a wonderful beautiful women now and she all mine to a point she does like her close girl friends too lol. I am all her's as I have no reason to look for a younger women no need to at all.

Generally as men get older they realize that beauty is way down on the list for how much you enjoy spending time with someone. My wife happens to be beautiful, and to look much younger than her age, but that isn't why I enjoy being with her.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt tho.

I agree that older people looking specifically for much younger people in romance tends to look tawdry and has an air of desperation to it. I don't condemn any age combo out of hand, but why not just look for 'anybody?'
