There's a lot of misinformation about the procedure that don't match the facts - not from my own and many men's experience or from the science. We've had this discussion a few times since I've been around here, but there was a very recent landmark study that is the largest ever on sexual pleasure and function that's changing the thinking on this, so I thought it worth discussing again.
The study was review of 40 studies made up of 40,000+ men with about half being circumcised and half intact. It's "Does Male Circumcision Affect Sexual Function, Sensitivity, or Satisfaction?—A Systematic Review." The results in part were:
-Decreased risk of urinary tract infections. The overall risk of urinary tract infections in males is low, but these infections are more common in uncircumcised males. Severe infections early in life can lead to kidney problems later on.
-Decreased risk of sexually transmitted infections. Circumcised men might have a lower risk of certain sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Still, safe sexual practices remain essential.
-Prevention of penile problems. Occasionally, the foreskin on an uncircumcised penis can be difficult or impossible to retract (phimosis). This can lead to inflammation of the foreskin or head of the penis.
-Decreased risk of penile cancer. Although cancer of the penis is rare, it's less common in circumcised men. In addition, cervical cancer is less common in the female sexual partners of circumcised men.
So, it's easy to criticize commands God gave to an ancient people from a different time and place. But those arguments are largely based on emotion and ignorance, not an understanding of the facts then or now. Also, Jehovah is neither human nor male, so he doesn't have a penis.
