    That's so very rare mags.
I've never known anyone with it.

Very rare indeed. Probably explains the promiscuity, since the disorder usually arises from trauma in childhood.

I'd be talking to her about how she came to get this diagnosis. This isn't something she'd have gone to her Psychologist one day & they diagnosed...it happens over long periods of time, and is usually someone who has a long history of treatment for various mental illnesses. Is she getting inpatient treatment? I certainly wish her well.

She told me she sees a regular therapist, and got both the diagnosis of PTSD and dissassociative identity disorder. She works in the mental health field herself.

I do get worried with her that she will hurt herself more emotionally with her lifestyle, but she's happy with it. I wish her well too.

They do travel together, PTSD and dissociative disorders. At least she is getting treatment. The promiscuity is probably a coping mechanism.

              Very interesting dual diagnosis.

My friend considers herself polyamorous, and not promiscuous. The good thing is that I gently confessed to her on how I felt judged for not being promiscuous, but she clarified that she never judged me. I guess I was feeling judged by promiscuous people, because I just felt so DIFFERENT from them.

I just got back from a fun night out with my good friends in long-term relationships. I feel a lot happier/secure around them. They even introduced me to a nice single guy that's interested in me.

I also want to respect that relationships/monogamy aren't for everyone. Hopefully, my friend can have the type of polyamorous relationship that she's happy with.

Still, the saying "birds of a feather flock together" is true for me!

I agree with much of what's been said. Baboy's post fits my theory well. Willingness to learn is an important part of being a good lover. I often joke with friends that geeks make good lovers. Based on my limited experience, geeks approach life through the the scientific method. So they are willing to admit there are things they don't know. I promiscuous people tend to keep to the status quo. They assume they know everything, a broad generalization. My husband is a self described geek.
