A late response here. Personally I understand that if you've been together since an early age it's natural to wonder what other experiences there might be. I don't think detracts from his feelings for you. I wholeheartedly believe and understand that sex without love is absolutely possible. My partner and I are swingers and there is a huge difference between the sex we have with each other and the sex we have with others. One is fun, one is about emotions and intimacy. But that's easy for me to say, not so easy for others to get their head around. On one hand you're lucky he's talking to you about this rather than just going off and doing things behind your back. I don't have an issue with his desires, I do have an issue if what you say is true that he would not allow you the same scope to experiment. Even if you don't want to, you're entitled to the same 'privileges'.

Is it a possibility that you could incorporate fantasy into your own sex life to maybe give him whatever experiences he's seeking? It's certainly not the same as the excitement and adrenalin from being with someone new but maybe if you dressed differently, even wore a wig, went out to a bar and he 'picked you up' it might give him the chance to have 'someone new'. I know role play isn't everyone's 'thing', but maybe something to consider?

If he's not willing to compromise or consider your feelings it's a difficult situation and I wish you all the best.

Sounds to me like your long-time friend exhibits sociopathic behavior if he can that easily separate sex from love.
      Dump him.
You're young and there *are* decent men out there.
