Is Climax Necessary for Satisfaction?
In the thread https://www.womens-health.com/boards...straight-women we discussed an interesting study that says that heterosexual women have fewer orgasms than other gender and sexual orientations. This raises the question in the title: Does orgasm equate to satisfaction?"Those sowing seed with tears
Will reap with a joyful shout." - Psalm 126 -
I’m a man. The short answer for me is yes. But, the feeling I have about it afterward and what I reflect back on is never about the orgasm. I’ve had highly pleasurable erotic encounters that did not end in orgasm. I’ve also had orgasmic sex that left me unsatisfied. But, in general, I’m not finished until I finish.
My wife is different. I know her well enough to fairly easily make her climax every time. But I’ve probably withheld as many as I’ve given her because she wants it to happen during sex. If it doesn’t, she’s fine going without."Those sowing seed with tears
Will reap with a joyful shout." - Psalm 126 -
I have erectile dysfunction which has changed my answer. At one time I would have said it was or at least most of the time it was. Now, it is not so necessary.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, VirginiaComment

I'm a woman. I pretty much reach orgasm during each sex. But I often don't feel satisfaction eventhough I reach orgasm. And there are times I feel really satisfied although I didn't reach orgasm. So the answer for me is no. Climax is not necessary for every satisfaction during sex, but most satisfaction do come from climax.Comment
