That sounds scary. Pressuring or forcing someone to become a parent doesn't seem conducive to them wanting to be one. Can you ask him what would make it the right time?

I didn't pressure him. We had talked about it for a long time. I just took the steps to start the process and there are A LOT OF STEPS so he had to come along with me. He was fine with attending a few meetings. He was even fine with me starting the application. But when I asked him to gather information for the application, he suddenly decided it wasn't the right time.

There is no right time. It's just excuses. You can always find an excuse.

Don't know if the fostering process is the same as adoption process but it can seem overwhelming.
Also, if a spouse is reluctant, often all the unknowns are more magnified to them.

Having children is a big thing. I can see some people locking up when making such a decision. Good for you Dream, by taking the bull by the horns, you did what needed to be done, I expect your hubby is supportive of the outcome. There is nothing wrong with your husband following your lead. He could have quit participating if he didn't want the outcome.

It is so much easier to become a natural parent than it is to become an adoptive parent. Practically no inspection of your life and the inspection that there is is done by your partner.
