Anyway I do have a question for you ladies. She seems to be very poorly affected by this lack of success with a guy she likes at work. Now, I was devastated once by a failed romance (my first real one, when I was 18 or so), so I know that can lay you low, but she's not had a romance with this guy. They're hardly even friends. She would just like it if they were more - apparently very, very keenly. Is it legit to get that bent out of shape in that situation? I had an unrequited love drama in my younger years too, but it was with a guy I was actually almost involved with, and it went on for a long time during which I came to know the guy very well. That was difficult, but does the same thing potentially apply with someone who's closer to being a stranger? She seems genuinely devastated by it all - and "it all" is just that nothing has happened. There's been no outright rejection or cruelty or anything like that.
Anyway I'm concerned that I'm underplaying the significance of that. If she's genuinely tormented by it, it probably is pretty crappy for me not to want to indulge her pain.
