We should probably move the stimulating political branch of this post to a new thread...
Someone close to me works for a small business in our area, that employs fewer than 100, but is profitable in the millions, as I understand. The owner and his partner have expressed in a recent staff meeting, that in the coming 2 yrs, IF the changes are as meaningful as they claim for their business, there will be investment in their staff directly, most likely in educational incentives, updates to equipment and more equipment, new hires and small pay raises across the board.
That all remains to be seen. They said their tax accountants hadn't completely evaluated the plan yet. They simply wanted their staff to know where their priorities lie, if a major break were to come their way.
My friend believes his CEO, as he's done things like this in the past when they had opportunity to reinvest in development of their staff. This company has very little turn over, even though it is a dirty, tough job. Men and women there have mostly been there 10+ yrs and the loyalty to the company is unheard of these days. That business is doing something right.
I think, for me, I do not understand and comprehend the side of business that will see these tax breaks, so I am reserving judgement until I see what actually happens. I am not against businesses getting breaks, or anyone for that matter. I just hope that the money is invested wisely.Comment

Happy New Year, Stillness,
I admire some things about him, but I'm not convinced that he cares about people or treats everyone equally.
Maybe I missed it, but I never saw where he apologized for the housing discrimination his companies were involved in. Did he? I'm pretty sure that he openly said he didn't want poor people as tenants. A lot of working people are poor. That was years ago and people can change, but typically that change is accompanied by an acknowledgement of wrongdoing.
He strikes me as a typical elitist politician that panders to “common” people. It'll be interesting to see how his policies on taxes and health care affect the people that got him elected.
It was not my intention to delve in to a political discussion. I merely wanted to show examples of men of exemplary honor and excellent character, traits that I admire.
As an aside, President Trump has repeatedly walked the talk long before he was a politician. It was only after he declared his candidacy that innuendo flew like jets launching from aircraft carriers. While I don't watch network news because it broadcasts hearsay as facts, it is undeniable that President Trump's opponents have probably committed serious felonies in their attempts to prevent his becoming the 45th President of the United States of America. There is palpable reason that Democrats and neocon Republicans fear him. He is not of America's ruling elite. He was not ordained. Hence, he is in position to reveal to Americans illegal activities of politicians of both parties. His releasing archived documents that disprove the Warren Commission report of JFK's murder (The bullet that caused JFK's murder smashed through the windshield and entered his forehead. He was not killed by a bullet entering the back of his head.) must have caused serious concern to our deep state's operatives.
More than anything, we must demand equal administration of law. Our two tier justice system in which our ruling elite commit crimes with impunity while the unwashed masses are targeted for political prosecution will destroy this country.Comment

My friend thinks I should politely distance myself from my g/f because it's a physical relationship, and I shouldn't rush in to another relationship. He thinks I should not date anyone for a while and think about what I really want. Relationships that are founded upon authentic friendship seem to be most secure.
My friend knows my g/f fairly well. He does not think that she's a good choice for me. I asked him to be honest, and he was. He said that there is a muted insincerity about her. I agreed with him. He told me that about a year ago, she told him that money was the first thing she looked for in a man. He hasn't liked her since. He has a lot of money, and he can't stand gold diggers.
I know that I can live without the best sex I've ever had. While sex is important in a relationship, it is one of many facets. Great sex does not impute friendship. I would not consider my g/f to be a friend. At best, she's a buddy, or a person with whom I associate.
According to social science research, which is always suspect, leaving a relationship for another rarely works out. Alone time before resuming dating seems to work out best.Comment

Happy New Year amy40,whoever is happy with the tax changes, it's because they are rich as Trump said "the rich are getting richer" or something like that
he thinks the rich will pass down their HUGE tax breaks to regular people......not
they was a meeting of business owners who were asked if they'd pass it down to their employees, about 2 raised their hands
the rich will keep the money for themselves
ask trump to show his taxes.....he won't because he doesn't donate much to anyone but himself
Please allow me to suggest that you watch the aforementioned youtube video. President Trump has had, for a very long time, a charitable foundation. Lynne Patton, who is black, is the administrator of it. She had a problem with drugs. 99% of employers would have fired her. A drug addict in charge of money is embezzlement waiting for opportunity. But then Donald Trump, now President Trump, knew she was a good person. The Trump Family stood beside her to help her shed her addiction. The Trump Family considers her to be part of their family.
My mom taught me at a very young age to believe none of what I hear and half of what I see. My mom was extremely wise.
There is nothing of any semblance of validity of a classroom poll. The classroom "poll" of which you posted was of zero value. My advice is to go with scientific polling, which excludes network news polls.
And no, I don't watch Fox News. I call it the Neocon News Network. It slings as much fake news as the other outfits.Comment

I don't necessarily think the need for down time in between, applies in the case of a sexual relationship. Normally I am pretty adamant about that, but you say you don't even think of her as a friend, so I think you have little attachment that would hinder a romantic relationship with someone else from growing healthy.
I do think you're confused and a bit in denial about what your feelings are for her, but I can't be confident in that either, as I don't know you, or her.
I think as long as you're honest with gym girl about where you are with developing a relationship, there's no real issue.Comment

Happy New Year, atskitty2,
I have told gym girl that I see a female friend. I've never mentioned sex with her.
I do have feelings for my g/f. But I know we're incompatible in an exclusive relationship. I know that she has gone on a few online dates. She knows I've dated other women. I'm good. She wants to find marriage material. I hope she finds it, assuming it's what she wants. However, she is not realistic. Marriage stats for women of her age with two previous failed marriages are dismal.
When my g/f's on the scrap, a prolonged sex session puts her in excellent humor.
I'm going to a party tonight by myself. But for pressure from my friends, I'd stay home.Comment

With the way things are going maybe most will not be voters.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
