I am 41 years old and have three kids. I have lived with this condition for close to 10 years, it started shortly after the birth of my second child. It is most definitely related to my periods. I thought at one point I had become allergic to the sanitary pads, but I don't think that is the case. I had an ablation two years ago that got rid of my periods and it was better during that time. Not gone all the way, but more manageable. Now my periods have come back and it is worse than ever.
Now, on top of everything else, my gyn says I have pelvic prolapse and must have surgery. All of this makes me feel like the most un-sexiest female on the planet! My husband got mad at me today because I just wasn't into it, and he says I am just doing it for him. Well, DUH! I say be happy I am making any effort at all you stupid jerk!

Lynn H: I went to a urologist years ago that told me she thought I might have herpes. I was so freaked out and scared. It was not herpes. It was the longest few days of my life. They need to not throw that word around. Just do the test, and then if it comes back you can tell me what the test was for.

I thought I had herpes and was totally convinced. I wasn't diagnosed with GSB. The doctor tested me several times at my request and it always came back negative. I guess there is some sort skin irritation from the imbalanced ph level.
It has been several months since my last itch and burn spell. I think it may something to do with my diet, sleep and stress. Today is day 1 of my teatree suppositories. I burn like but it is worth it if it works. It has worked in the past. I will keep you ladies up to date.
It is terrible that we have to go through this but together we will provide the support need to make doctors aware that there are real symptoms associated with GSB. It know it can get tough when you are suffering through this. But at least now you know that you are not alone.

Hello all I had replied to this thread last month. I was the one that said scared out of my mind and was told I had herpes then the doctor left the room. So update. I was Negative for Herpes. Last month the doctor found a serious form of BV called MUBILUNCUS I took Clindamycin for that for ten days maybe. But my B-strep was still causing me agony. So I got Penicillin from my family doctor to help with the b-strep. After that I got a letter in the mail from my GYN that I did not follow her medical advice and she would no longer be helping me! CAN you believe that? After what she told me and did? DO NOT go to Kerylin Loftus!!! So this month I was dreading my period to end because that seems to be when it happens. Of corse I got it again on Tuesday morning at 2:30 AM just started itching like crazy... it is now past that stage like usually and is beginning to get raw and red and bleed. I went to a new GYNO on Tues and he was amazing he is trying to figure it out with me he is stumped too. So here is what he found... TRICHOMONIASIS... it is an STD but the most common one of all, and yes it is CURABLE! I am on Flygal right now to get rid of it...and I am also ordered to take Boric or Bonic Acid Supositories to restore my PH balance he said he wants my Vagina back on track. Now the Trich does not show its symptoms in men so when we heal it they just give it back. If you look it up it causes painful intercorse and most of the other symptoms we all are talking about, so that is why I am hoping that this is it. So go get your MEN tested ASAP for Trich!!!! Also in two weeks I am going to have a camera shoved up me to look around in there for anything else that may be causing the painful intercorse or other symptoms..if not than it is def the Trich. Aso make sure you and your man get tested again after the medicine for the TRich before having sex again.!! Wish me luck and I hope this helps out some more of you.

I am not on birth control. I had a routine swab done in Feb 2010, everything was negative. June 2010 started getting a dry, chunky white discharge and cultured positive for Group B Strep. I was given Biaxin. The symptoms returned in 3 days and I cultured positive Sept. 2010. I am currently on peniccillin. I have not been on birth control since 1999 BUT my cycle has been all over the map since Dec. 2009. I really believe GBS symptoms are hormone related. Good luck

Hi, I too suffer with these horrible UTI's. The ONLY med that will treat group B strep is Penicillen. Do not let the doctor give you amoxicillen, it won't work. I know from experience penicillin will work. Let me know!

                Hi,

I was told penicillin is the only antibiotic that will work for strep b in urine. I am on a 10 day dose. I will let you know my results when I get tested again. It is horrible that doctors out there are so ignorant. I am going to an infectious disease doctor on Tuesday. I will let you know how it went.

Im in NJ too. Anyway what doctor finally gave you penicillin? My family doctor gave me the macrobid (something like that) and then said if I dont feel better to see a urologist. I was also on amoxicillian and that did nothing either. Did the penicillin make you feel better at least?

Hello. I have had strep b for over a year now. I have tried amox, kefflex (twice) and a ton of different herbs and . None of it worked. For some reason, all of the antibiotics and herbal stuff ended up giving me terrible anxiety and I ended up in the ER at one time. I don't know if it is from candida or what because I have yeast infections all the time too. I have just taken so many antibiotics in the last year. That is what inititally caused the strep overgrowth, a round of flagyl for BV. I tried some estrogen cream, which helped, but it seems like if I take a bath it comes back in full force. My symptoms are inflammation / burning and some itching and pain. I have been to the dr so many dang times . Please if someone finds a cure, please help!!!
