Well ladies it is both enlightening and depressing to see that my problem with excessive vaginal discharge is so common. I am 51 have had a child and am gay so all the obvious diagnosis from the OB/GYN community didn't apply. Not unlike all of you being told this is normal is ridiculous and being told to just wear panty liners etc infuriates me! Mine is so bad now that I am wearing the depends pads just to keep from going through 6 or more panty liners a day. I was actually hoping menopause would finally make it stop.....I think it actually made it worse. I am going to try the probiotics and see if that works because I have tried everything else. I'll stay tuned for any new ideas. Take care.... -
Hi
I have a bit of discharge after my periods that can last till the next cycle. Its not a lot like some of the ladies here but its enough to wear panty liners everyday. I'm paranoid that i will leave a wet spot on my pants if i dont wear one.
I have never had sex before so i don't need to get any testing but I'm confused as to why i get it. It also causes the area to be itchy but i think that maybe due to the heat/moisture and my underwear maybe being too tight? It kinda has a musky smell that I am uber paranoid other people can smell.
I've been searching the internet trying to figure out how i can treat it but i don't get very far as a lot of the sites talk about STD/STIs which i know i don't have.
Has anyone tried the feminine hygiene products? i was thinking the powder to help adsorbed the moisture?
please help!!!
edit: I forgot to add that I shower everyday, at the moment I don't use anything to clean my vagina just warm water. Its spring now and heading in to summer which im a tad worried about. In the summer i take 2 showers a day as it can get pretty hot here in Sydney.
also sorry is this was TMI.Last edited by whatsmyname; 11-22-2012, 05:34 AM.Comment

I have this exact same problem and I admit that I'm slightly relieved to hear so many other accounts of it (though I wouldn't wish it on anyone).
I've determined that it's normal for me... I've been this way since I was probably 13, which was a good year and a half before I had my first period. I'm 26 now and it's been absolutely constant for 13 years-- half my life. Nothing affects it. I've been on contraceptive pills since I was 18? 19? and they make no difference. They might for some people, but my discharge is as persistent as it always was. I eat pretty heathily, not a lot of sugar, and I stay very hydrated. I don't think dietary changes would help me that much. I also don't think it's stress related, since it's been literally every day, all the time, whether I'm dozing on a beach with not a care in the world or tearing my hair out over a school or work project. My sexual experience is light, and I don't have any STDs (and since this started years before I ever came near a guy, I know it's not that). I only wash with warm water in the shower, so it's not some outside irritant affecting my pH levels. I used to get yeast infections when I was a teenager, but they were entirely medication related, and my "regular" discharge is 99% odorless and is almost certainly just huge quantities of the same cleansing, lubricating mucus that all women get.
Still. It's ridiculous, as you all know. I wear pantyliners every day and change them every few hours. They have to be the kind with a thin plastic lining behind the cotton tissue because otherwise I'd soak right through them. Not wearing them (which I sometimes chance if I'm home) can result in soaking through my panties (and sometimes pants!) instead. Or constantly running to the bathroom to wipe away a sudden "gush" before it has the chance to go anywhere. I get a sudden flow of it almost every time I stand up, like having a period all the time. Sometimes I stand up from my desk at work, feel it once again ooze, and just want to scream. It varies from almost clear and watery to gooey and slightly more opaque or milky. It doesn't itch or burn. But as it builds up and pools in the pantyliner, it's wet and sticky and cold CONSTANTLY. And I think wearing pantyliners 24/7 makes my underwear less breathable and the skin of my bikini and vulva area more sensitive and irritable, not to mention the waste and inconvenience. But the alternative would be literally leaving a wet spot on every chair I occupy when it's at its worst. Something that's really been getting on my nerves recently: I ride horses a couple times a week and I've lately gotten more advanced and vigorous in my pursuits. Let me tell you... riding at a fast pace bareback with a pantyliner chafing, chafing, chafing with every movement = not fun. I usually don't notice at the time because I'm focused and happy (it's my favorite hobby and the thought of giving it up is excruciating), but later I will literally have to peel the disintegrating liner off myself and find that it's absolutely soaked and even slightly bloody. The blood's not menstrual spotting, it's because I've rubbed my actual skin raw. I've thought about wearing soft reusable cloth pads to ride instead, since hopefully they wouldn't start to disintegrate into sandpapery torture devices, but all the ones I find online have metal or plastic snaps that go around the gusset of your panties, and I'm pretty sure metal nodules are the last thing I need down there when trying to deal with a lot of friction. I suppose I could make my own with some other way of securing them? But I'm no seamstress.
I've never used a menstrual cup and I guess it never occurred to me that they could be used for discharge. But it makes sense now that I consider it. The thought of getting used to one of those is a little intimidating, and I think I'd be worried about it dislodging or leaking in some way when I first started using it, but if it worked well that would be awesome. It would be so nice to catch the flow before it actually comes out, eliminating that constant external wetness.
That said, I think I'm going to try the Lactobacillus acidophilus probiotics first. Wow, if just taking a few supplements a day could fix this (or even just reduce it by a noticeable amount), I would be ecstatic and eternally grateful to this forum! Going to order some ASAP. We'll see....Comment

Hey! I am 26 years old, and I have had this problem for years now. I was crying reading all of these posts. I have been checked every year for STDs. I am clean. I did have small case of HPV in 2009, which went away. I have yearly blood work done, thinking I maybe have diabetes because it runs in my family, I thought it was multiple yeast infections. I have had doctors up there all the time... Been to infectious disease dr trying to figure out what this is. They thought is was BV gave me this metal tasting medication, I was on fluconazole for 10 days straight then once a week. Nothing has helped. I get Monostat use that which does do much. I am wet everyday, I have to wear a panty liner. Doctors do not know what to do with me, sexual intercourse sometimes burns, and is very sore. I was reading some posts about Dalacin? I am gonna try to ask doctor about that. I have lost a lot of weight changed diet, still have the problem. It makes me feel dirty, I hate walking around feeling wet all the time. Sometimes I have itching other times I do not, the stuff that comes out is white, sometimes when I wipe its clear, white or hint of yellow. I know this sounds gross but I smelled and it does not have a fishy Oder as yeast would. Idk what to do. It's very upsetting, but all these posts have really made me happy in knowing I'm not crazy, and other woman have this problem.Comment

I've had this problem ever since I began puberty, I just learn to deal with it, most of the time I wear a very small/thin panty liner so as to avoid discomfort or staining underwear, if I'm about to have sex and I don't want the guy to think I'm on my period I nip to the toilet beforehand and dispose of it, or just don't wear on as the sexual activity is likely to cause vaginal secretion anyway. I recommend buying some cheapish thin panty liners for exercise.Hi Nicole - I can't help you apart from sympathise with you because I have exactly the same thing - has been like it for about 18 months and is driving me crazy and making me depressed. It's non stop and I mean never stops. Have had tests but there is no infection - gynacologist just said some women have this
I can't believe that i will have to have this forever - it is stopping me exercising and just enjoying normal things like walking or rollerblading - in fact anything where you have to walk -let me know if you find anything - take care love cateComment

What Does Your Vagina Discharge Tell You?Hi, I'm 20 years old now. Since I was about 15 I've had alot of vaginal discharge. Way too much I believe. It's pretty much constant, never stops. Sometimes when I get out of the shower it leaks onto my feet or floor before I even have time to get dressed. This is a really embarrassing problem, as you can imagine. All of my underwear is stained and almost everyday I "leak" into them. Sometimes I dont feel it, sometimes it'll come suddenly and feel as if I am on my period and my tampon has leaked. Of course, I am not on my period, so I do not have a tampon. I go to the bathroom and my panties are wet and feels very disgusting. I've read that you're not supposed to wash yourself with soap, so I thought maybe that was the problem but it didn't stop it. Also I have stopped wearing panties to bed, but that just makes me leak more and i am constantly wet from it. Please help, I have been to 2 doctors, they both treated me with antibiotics that didn't work. I do not have health insurance now so I cannot go back. PLEASE HELP!! How do i make it stop?! It's been at least 5 years now!!

vagina-dischargeHave you been paying attention to your vagina discharge, the clear, watery, creamy or egg white-like mucus that comes out of your vagina month after month? It actually tells you quite a bit about the stages of your menstrual cycle. It also alerts you of abnormal conditions that you should be concerned about.
Here are a few common types of vagina discharge, and the time of your cycle they are likely to occur…
Dry – There is usually no discharge for a few days after your period and a few days before your next period. That’s why they’re called “dry days.” These are the days when you’re least likely to get pregnant if you engage in unprotected sex.
Creamy – Between your dry days and your ovulations you’ll notice white creamy mucus at the opening of your vagina that feels sticky or tacky. If you have a 28-day cycle, you’ll probably notice the creamy mucus on days 7-11, and days 17-26.
Egg white – If you notice clear and slippery egg white-like mucus, you’re probably ovulating. Your ovulation days are usually 12 to 16 days before your next expected period. This is the prime time to engage in unprotected sex if you want to be pregnant, or the “slippery days” if you want to avoid pregnancy.
Watery – Sometimes you may notice clear and watery discharge at different times of your cycle. This is completely normal, and it can be particularly heavy after exercising.
Brown – Sometimes you may also see brown discharge right after your period. It’s most likely the “cleaning out” of the vagina, and there’s nothing to worry about.
Yellow or Green – This may indicate an infection, especially if it’s thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor. If the discharge also accompanies pain, itching, discomfort, rash or sore, you should certainly get tested.
If you have a yeast or bacteria infection, check out Enzymatic Therapy Pearls YB to help restore optimal yeast balance in your vaginal area, and Monistat 7 Day Treatment for fast relief of itching and irritation. These two are the best sellers on Amazon, and have received many good reviews.
Since I began to pay attention to my vagina discharge, I’ve learned so much about my monthly cycles. I’m continuously amazed by how much there is to learn about our bodies and ourselves. And the more we learn to read our bodies’ signals, the more prepared and ready we are to take better care of ourselves.Comment

It really is comforting to know that a ton of people have the same problem. Ever since I was 15 (20 now), I have what seems like constant "leaking." I know it's not literally continuously just coming out, but it not a normal amount and feels so gross. Usually even 5 minutes of putting on clean underwear, it becomes wet and uncomfortable and it dries white. I wear tampon liners pretty much everyday. It's amazing how many I have gone through, and annoying, no woman should have to wear one EVERY day. The first gynecologist I went to with this problem told me to stop wearing the pads everyday and that it's normal to have discharge. I stopped for awhile, but I couldn't take it for much longer, I hated feeling the "wetness" all day. Over the past 5 years I've been to about 5 different gynecologists who have done a lot of tests and have found nothing wrong. All of them also said that some women have more discharge and there's nothing they can do and that we discharge while ovulating. A lot of people have said this that it's normal and some women and more than others. This is not normal. I don't think they understand how constantly the leakage is. Also, it doesn't matter if I'm ovulating or not it's every single day. This is why it's a relieving thing to know that other people have trouble with this and know what I am talking about and how IT IS NOT NORMAL!!!!! You would think gynecologists would want to look into this and study it and try everything for the patient if it hasn't stopped, especially after 5 years. It's like they don't want to do any further research or testing, oh you're culture came back normal and everything looked fine, just deal with it. There is definitely something going on, and I know it's not healthy for us who have this problem. Once again, it is not normal, unless you don't experience the amount of leakage most of us have to deal with. BV's are a good description of what's going on, but like many of you, I have been on so many creams and antibiotics and still nothing. One possibility is that it truly is Candida, and way too much of it. Even after treating Candida or trying to, the treatments may not help because it will grow back and most likely rapidly. It's hard to change our diet, not take antibiotics (especially if you get frequent sinus infections or any other infection that absolutely needs antibiotics), and so on that is associated with helping cure Candida. Candida lowers your immune system making you susceptible to infections, therefore needing antibiotics. It's like a never ending cycle. I'm not 100% sure if the cause is Candida, but it is very very possible. I just wish I could find a gynecologist that won't stop until this problem is solved. It could help so many women dealing with this very annoying problem. Sorry for the long rant but it felt so nice to get this out after 5 years, especially to people that know exactly what I'm going through, because the few people that I have talked to about this aren't going through this and can't relate.Comment

Iv'e had the same problem for years and years now and i just resorted to wearing pantie liners all the time which aren't the best thing in the world because it can cause anything from yeast infections to urinary tract and more. Though in all the years i have only suffered through one yeast infection. I found something that works great for me and it requires no doctor or a ton of money. Its found at your local pharmacy (i want to cvs) It is a 'Hypoallergenic intimate cleanser" basically a pH balance and it is a special soap for down there because scented soaps can cause an imbalance.Comment

I have no health problems but if I'm required to sit for more than 30mins a chair will be wet through my jeans. It just seems to be normal and I take a swipe across the chair with my hand as I stand up so it will dry before people notice. Probably not considered sanitary but like I said I have no health issues so I'm not passing anything along. I'm not in school anymore so it doesn't happen often that I'm required to sit on a hard chair. My computer sits alongside the bed and I do web design plus take care of the pets while my husband works so I just change the sheets often.Comment
