Hey chalu, did the derm take a look down there? That's good that your having a patch test. My derm didn't think I needed that, but I might insist next time. I mean, can't hurt right? Let us know when you get the results. When i was at the derms office yesterday, I said it was the last place I thought I'd be, but they said they do see people for stuff like this! It's not uncommon.! -
hi viola. yes, when i went to see him the first time a couple of weeks ago, he did look. unfortunately, i wasn't red or irritated at that point so he couldn't see the problem. actually, i haven't been red down there since the beginning of december, but i still have all the other sensations. he basically ruled everything out. i was kind of hoping he would tell me that the yeast infection was IN the skin and he had seen it many times before and that he would give me a simple solution for it. but, alas, that did not happen. i went in again on monday for a follow-up, and that's when i got the patches put on. he didn't look down there again because there is nothing to see! are you red and irritated and itchy, or just itchy with no obvious physical symptoms?Comment

Well, I don't have discharge or anything. I think my infection is gone, but what I suspect is left is itch from some sort of allergy. I haven't put anything on there except Benadryl and A&D ointments very sparingly. like on days I have to work and get through the day. Dr. Crandell said she thinks I've gotten the infection at this point. I have itch still, and the derm said it looked irritated and red. That's it. How long do you leave those patches on?Comment

hi viola. you leave them on for two days... can't get them wet , so no showers! then the derm. takes them off and see if you have a reaction. then you have to come in two days later and they check again. it feels like huge band aids on your back, and they are itchy, but not too bad. i have to go in an hour to have them taken off. so i'll let you know what they say!
i was wondering, did you have any itching before this problem started for you? or did it just start after the initial yeast infection?Comment

Its good that your yeast infections are clearing up. Maybe it was just some left over irritation I did have a yeast infection irritate me for a month once. I get these blasted yeast infections around my cycle here and there it's when the progestrone is fluctuating so being well and ready helps, I can pretty much pinpoint the way it feels for me and when it starts or around what point of my cycle hah. I hope you don't get it again but if you do you will be prepared this time, there more a headache and not a serious medical problem. Best Wishes.Comment

chalu, In a nutshell, it originally started as a yeast infection March '09. It's been on and off, got horrible through that spring, was really horrible fall '09 and then started on an extreme candida diet, and trips to the Natropath with supplements and the whole 9 yards. Got better doing white vineger douches, then did boric acid suppositorys for months on end, SF722 forumula, and kept the extreme diet of no sugar, low carbs.....but still, just kept coming back and back. Had diflo on and off, never really cured though, finally had to find a yeast doctor. All yeast seemed to be gone but still had itch, Doctors kept telling me, no yeast, I'm fine, kept going back, finally this fall fired him, found a new gyno who saw the yeast again, and haved worked with her and Dr. Crandell. Last night was my last dose. I hope I'm ok. working with a derm now. Just praying I can keep it under control, my diet is even more extreme now with no wheat, no dairy, no tomato. and they said stop the xylitol, do stevia, or tiny honey. Wierd food, yuck. I'm like hanging on by a string now, so scared..........Comment

i know what you mean about being scared viola. today was a bad day for me. i feel like i am dealing with two problems.. the mental and the physical. for what ever reason, i was feeling that burning sensation pretty bad today. i think it has a lot to do with me anticipating pain and clenching my muscles, which creates pain which makes me clench even more etc... so frustrating. then i get depressed because i still don't feel normal and everything kind of spirals out of control . i was hoping that the yeast infection was the sole cause of my problem, but it looks like it was only a part of it. and, they didn't see any allergies today, so there goes that idea. i guess it is just a process of elimination. oh well. i keep hoping i wake up and i'll just feel better. gotta go back to the doc and see what else i can do!Comment

No allergies??? That is good/bad I guess. I think it would be great to just avoid what your allergic to, and that it could be contributing to a problem. But I'm doing the same approach.....out of process of elimination........you know, I have another friend that has the burn too. It drives her nuts. She doesn't know what to do either, and can't put anything on because it makes her burn. Her gyno says it has to do with her age, she's 50 but not quite menapause yet, just skipping a few months. Uggggg, I know, the fear.......it's really depressing. I'm 50 how old are you?Comment

i am 32. all of my hormones seem to be just normal... in fact everything else about me is normal EXCEPT for this!!! i have some other health issues, such as a pituitary tumor and thyroid issues, but they have been taken care of for years. honestly, the only thing i can think of at this point is that i got a yeast infection that was not treated properly when it first started and now i am left with some kind of reaction or nerve damage. i just hope i can find a solution for this soon and try to get back to some sort of normalcy!!!Comment
