Yeah the same thing happens to me, I always get an odor the week after my period, but my other symptoms are rarely there so i can deal. I think what happens is that we always have the BV bacteria growing in us and it just gets out of control because of our cycle. Will yours clear up without rephresh or will it just get worse until you use something?? What is femmesil?

It does sort itself out eventually, but takes a while, whereas the RepHresh sorts it out quicker. The Femmesil was mentioned a page or so back - it's a natural cream based on colloidal silver, essential oils etc. I've used it for a couple of days now within my period, and it does help keep the bacteria down, but it's expensive and messy. Should be able to use the RepHresh again tomorrow - hooray!

I just wish I could get to the stage where it doesn't come back with my period. Periods/hormones are horrible enough without being vile, stinky and sore!

        Chronic Bv

I am also suffering from BV and my doctor has also prescribed Flagil and metrogel and it is not working, the fishy smell goes away during treatment but it comes right back. I have followed the instructions, finish treatment and no sex for 2 weeks after, I even made it 3 wks.
It is very frustrating and I am on the process of trying some natural remedies, I will keep you posted if anything else works.
I just hope we can find a cure, BV is not only embarrasing is frustrating.

Yes you can have BV and yeast at the same time, at least thats what my doctor told me. In one of my treatments I got treated for BV the first week and yeast the second week.

Well since my period it came back. Ugh I am so frustrated, this sucks. I tried the teatree oil idea someone mentioned, I deluted a drop of oil with a tad of water and used a qtip to swab it a few times this morning. It killed the smell, but now that its been 8 hours the smell is coming back. My God will this ever stop, how long will I have to use the teatre? Has it cured anyone else? I continue to eat yogurt and Fem-D. I even douched with the apple vinegar, but it's still there!

I too have had surgery (hysterectomy) and funny thing... i have had a bact. infection ever since. Mine starts to go away , but never does. I believe my doctor is making me "immune defienct".
Right now i am taking Rocephin 1 gm injections daily. I can already feel a difference, has only been 2 doses and i have 4 doses left.
i will be back at the end of the treatment to let you all know if it is gone for good.

Well, my BV is back. But it's weird how it came back though. I had been in the hospital the past 2 weeks from a Pulmonary Embolism I got as a result of taking birth control. I had a CT scan done on Sunday night and got the smell and discharge on Tuesday morning. I really think the CT scan dye caused my BV to come back. I 1st got BV in June and never had it again. Then, after the CT scan and blood thinners the BV came roaring back. I really think the dye did something to the ph in my body which caused the recurrance, b/c the dye made me feel hot all over and like I was peeing on myself. Am I crazy here or all these changes in my body couldn't have contributed to the return of my BV? Ugh, I'm hating this, blood clots in my lungs and fricken BV!!!!

I posted that my bv came back after my period and I have tried the tea tree oil the vinegar douche, antibiotics nothing keeps it away. I have been taking Fem D for the past few weeks and at wits end for the past week I have been douching before bed with plain yogurt not to mention eating it once daily. It has basically cleared it, but I' afraid to stop. To me it seems to be the only logical choice because it kills the bad bacteria and promotes the good. I'm going to continue for a few more days, I will keep you all posted if it stays away once and for all!!!

While I haven't read through the 57 pages of posts I just can't help to think that this IS caused by something that shouldn't be there. I don't see why a doctor (or doctors) can't determine what the root of the problem is. I've never been one who favors taking any kind of medication but in extreme circumstances like this I'd think there has to be something that can wipe it out permanently.
