Get your vitamin d level checked

Ladies, if you google the words "Bacterial Vaginosis and Vitamin D," you will see that there are MANY studies that show that being deficient in Vitamin D can cause you to have a range of issues, bacterial vaginosis being one of them. Vitamin D plays an important role in so many aspects of our health, including our ability to have a stronger immune system to be able to fight diseases.

And sometimes being out in the sun isn't enough. I am Vitamin D deficient. I spend at least an hour in the sun five days a week, yet my bloodwork showed that my Vitamin D was only 30.8. The range from most labs is 30 to 100, but optimally one should be between about 50 to 70 for good health.

Please get your Vitamin D levels tested. Perhaps this will help you to fight this stupid bacteria. The correct test is 25(OH)D, also called 25-hydroxyvitamin D.

And if you do find that your Vitamin D level is low, the best form to take is Vitamin D3, which is a fat soluble vitamin that is best absorbed when taken with a little oil or milk or cheese or peanut butter. Also, Vitamin D works in conjunction with magnesium and Vitamin K.

Don't just take Vitamin D if you don't need it, but definitely get your level tested to find out. I am currently taking a vitamin d3 supplement with 10,000 IU's every other day, and I will have my levels tested again in three to four months. I feel that my immune system is stronger, some anxiety that I was dealing with is gone, and I just feel so much better.

Well...I'm back. About 3 months go, when I was battling bv and yeast together, my doctor suggested that I skip the 'dummy' placebo pills in my birth control pack. She thought that maybe the hormone levels dropping when taken could be the problem. Well...the first month was ok...the second month skipping the 'dummy pills' and I began to have breakthrough bleeding and then blead for over a week. I was told by the doctor to discontinue taking the pills for 3 days and then start them back up. By the 3rd day of being of bc, my bleeding stopped and I had been feeling great. That was last month. I had been feeling great...and in fact I had thought to myself last week...maybe the pills IS what was causing my issues.

Well...last Saturday, I began to have that somewhat of a tingley itchy feeling you get when you know something is up. I had a diflucan that I could refill..but by the time I realized I needed it, the pharmacy was closed. I woke up Sunday...just KNOWING I needed treatment. Took diflucan and woke up Monday with a full blown yeat infection. Went to doctor....she went to examine me and boom..she was like "I'm not even going to continue the exam. This is definately a yeast infection..no doubt." By now she and I are both frustrated. The only thing that I could think of that I had possibly done different was use a different dryer sheet than what I normally use. Since by battle 3 months ago, I had begun washing the towels and my panties in hot water to 'kill off yeast'. Anyway...my gyno said she wanted to get blood work ran...to check for diabetes. So...I went to my family doctor and she requested everything she could think of under the sun to run for testing and I also gave her the ok to check for HIV because I google too much and was paranoid. SOOOO...the family doctor's nurse called me today to tell me all my levels are perfect, no diabetes, no HIV. I'm like w...t....f! What is wrong with me?!?!?!?!? I can't bare the thought of having to tell my boyfriend that I have another stinkin infection! I mean...I am completely clean and healthy in every way...BUT the fact that I am apparently a carrier of yeast...which winds up causing me bv...or vise versa. I just don't know what to do! I think the next step my gyno will say we need to do is refer me to a specialist that she knows.

I JUST WANT TO BE NORMAL!! HELP!!!!

I have been dealing with BV for about two months and I went to every single site I could. I tried EVERYTHING!!! Hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil, I even bought the pure lactose and turned the little powder into small balls to insert them hoping for relief. NOTHING HELPED. I finally decided to order boric acid and I was so scared to try it bc it said farm use on the bottle. The first night I put boric acid into a little empty pill, inserted it and I woke up feeling very "wet". I stood up and water poured out of me. I check for the "smell" and it was so faint. I knew I was onto something. I'm now on day three of the boric acid treatment and I'm totally cured. Not only am I totally cured, but I'm not dry, I'm not yeasty, I'm actually better than I've ever been. It's unbelievable how good this worked. I'm going to do it tonight and maybe tomorrow and do it every other day thereafter, maybe cut down to once a week. I don't know, but this works and nothing else did

The problem is I am having a HARD time finding it. I've gone to almost every pharmacy and they tell me that they don't have it and they can't order it b/c it's hard to get. One pharmacist said to me "Oh wow, AVC cream, that's an oldie but goodie, I don't think I'll be able to get it." On pharmacist called my doctor and asked her if she wanted me on another type of medicine, but my doctor said no, she only wants me on that treatment. There are 2 more pharmacies that I haven't tried, and one of them said they are pretty good at getting hard to find medicines. So, I'm trying to get my hands on this, and I will keep ya'll updated.
It's definitely not a vitamin. It's an antibacterial cream for yeast infections. No one carries it anymore because its a very inconvenient treatment. An applicator full twice daily for 30 days. Once monistat and other creams that last 1-10 days became the preferred vaginal cream treatment.

This post is for anyone and everyone who has chronic vaginal infection, bv, yeast, whatever... I had BV and chronic yeast infections for about 7+ years...constantly inflamed cervix, pain with sex, discharge, smell etc. Just extremely uncomfortable. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me just kept prescribing antibiotics which helped for a short time but as soon as i was off of them it would come back within a week. and i was tired of taking pills and vaginal creams. I tried MANY remedies. None worked. Not probiotics, any kind of teatree insert, ph balancing creams and yogurts, Some were messy, some uncomfortable. If you guys are like me you would try ANYTHING to get rid of it. Anyway, long story short, I just wanted to share what worked for me so maybe it could help someone else. CALCIUM BENTONITE CLAY. It's a miracle. I discovered it, completely unrelated to BV, just was going to use it for detoxing but then as i used it i noticed my BV had disappeared. I still have to take it often (like at least 4 times a week) to keep it away. When i stop taking it my BV and yeast infections come back (probably comes back within a couple weeks) but the best part is, if they come back i just have to start the calcium bentonite again and they go away within a few days without antibiotics. the smell the discharge, the inflammation everything goes away. Amazing!!!

I suggest you all do some research on it, see what its all about. But basically, it will balance the ph in your body and it attracts and absorbs any harmful chemicals, bacteria, metals pollutants etc in your boy and carries them out through elimination. i drink it with apple juice. not the best tasting stuff but i dont care cuz it works miracles. Before you purchase some, make sure it has a high ph balance closer to 9.7 the better. And make sure it is edible grade clay. some is not and is for external use only. I drink it in the morning (sometime evening if i forget in the morning), about a table spoon in a little apple juice. the acidity of the apple juice helps to dissolve the clay better than water. If you have tried everything and nothing has worked for you i suggest giving this a try. give it a couple weeks and see what happens. I really hope this helps someone, i would have given anything to get rid of my bv before i found this. I have been using this this clay for about 1.5 to 2 years and it has been life changing.

                  Managing Your Microbial Populations

Most experts agree that diagnosing yeast overgrowth is best performed by a medical professional who can thoroughly analyze your medical history. A series of questions focusing on yeast-related problems is usually part of this process. According to Florida-based gastroenterologist Leonard Smith, “Allopathic medicine does a great job with anti-fungals on the seriously ill. However, when patients have low-grade recurrent Candida infections, they are treated with appropriate anti-fungal agents, but then they are offered nothing else to prevent recurrence.” While these anti-fungal drugs can effectively kill the Candida organism, unless you alter the conditions that resulted in the overgrowth, the yeast will usually come right back. In addition, when you take these drugs, the body may eliminate them before they reach the colon, allowing Candida in the lower part of your digestive tract to survive.

The best way to boost your chances of avoiding yeast overgrowth is to alter your diet and use supplements that support your body in its anti-Candida efforts. Dr. Nichols notes that taking probiotic supplements, containing beneficial bacteria that maintain the health of the digestive tract, is crucial to helping the body rid itself of Candida. “Probiotics help restore optimal digestive health,” he says. “One of the first things you need to do is bring back beneficial bacteria.”

                    What worked for me

Hi all, just wanted to add what totally resolved my problem as it seems that the natural ones are the way to go. I started taking folic acid supplements. 2 tablets per day at highest type they have. It was resolved in less than a week. I find that if I stop taking it them the symptoms resume. Best thing is it cost $5 and lasts for about months!

Hello, I too have suffered from BV. I haven't had a problem with yeast I've only had maybe two yeast infections in my life. However I was visiting the doctors office repeatedly for bactirial vaginosis or a bacterial infection and I found an over the counter cure which is very easy to find almost anywhere. Its called lactobacillus acidophillus it is in pill for you will find it anywhere vitamins are found and I've been using it for years. Store the bottle in your fridge and take 1-2 tablets any time you have irritation. I swear by it. Your vaginal flora will return to virgin like. No more itching nor fowl odor.
