    Cleaning Your "Area" Out

Ok, I know douching is very bad for us due to throwing off ph balances and messing up our "bacterias", so what is a good way to "clean myself out" and feel more fresh down there? Is something like Summers Eve or Vagisil wash safe and ok to use without drying or causing problems/infections?

I was going to get a douche, empty the contents, fill with plain warm water, and use after sex in the shower at night. What do you think of this? Is powder in panties after shower also ok (it feels fresh and smells good)?

    Thanks all

Personally I've never worried about this. Your vagina will clean itself naturally, there is no need to do or use anything.

Yes I know thats what are discharging is for, but when the time comes to clean itself...not very pleasant. So, I was just wondering if there were something to make me feel better in the meantime or while its doing it...

I use a gentle deoderant soap (caress).

I wash thoroughly while in the shower - then do a touch up freshen up (even though unecessary) once later the same day just to *feel* more fresh and confident. I've managed to stay completely odorless with this technique.

ReeNa, do you mean like, getting the semen out after sex? I just use my finger in the shower, with just water, or I wait for gravity to do the work for me (putting a piece of tissue into my panties to capture it) and then wash only the outer part of the vagina in the shower.

Never put powder there but might consider it... especially in warmer weather... you guys make it sound nice.

But really, I've never felt a need to do anything other than a regular shower and maybe an extra wash at some point during the day.

All the secretions of your vagina are basically tasteless and odorless anyway, it's when they get on the outer part that anything changes.

HD how do you do your touch up freshen up thing?

Meh....I've never done the cleaning out thing. Like WC, I find it unnecessary. Sort of like laxatives.....take em regularly, therefore your body soon needs them to do what it should be doing naturally.

Other than my daily wash in the shower, the only thing I ever do is use a cottonel wipe to freshen up. Seems to work well!

Honestly, I douche once a month and I've never had a problem with it. I douche after my monthly period is done. Clean out, refresh, etc. But I do just use the simple Summer's Eve Vinegar & Water one.

                  Thank you everyone for responding...

I bought a douche and cleaned it out well, then just slowly squeezed warm water inside me. Then I used Summers Eve Sensitive Cherry Blossom wash on the outside down there. Did do the powder thing again, but probably wont do this every day (might be irritating).

Be careful using douches to rid yourself of an odor. They do their purpose for cleaning, like lana's once a month thing...but for an actual smell issue... they could do more harm than good.

Any off putting smell coming from there is generally a sign that something is amiss. From something as simple as ph balance, bacteria , yeast to to things like stds etc. So using a douche can actually worsen those symptoms creating more of an odor problem than there was to begin with after the initial fresh scent wears off.

For me in the shower i do my outer area wash up, fingersweep the inner area(lol) using caress (any gentle deoderant soap is good) and thoroughly rinsing. Later in the day, especially when I am anticipating some action lol... just to feel a lil more confident I'll touch up at the sink, same gentle soap and thorough rinsing. Even if there is no odor present, which there generally isn't unless I have a heavy period, it just makes me feel confident to know I am spic and span spotless there.
