    Definitely be careful with douches.

I used to wash my area quite vigorously in the shower - hot water and whatever body wash I would use on the rest of my body. I was actually told by my doctor quite recently that I have irritant vaginal dermatitis. Oops!

Too much washing is a bad thing, especially when it comes to the fragile skin down below. Now I only ever use lukewarm water, and only water, to wash in the shower, after sex, etc.

Ok...if some of you would have read my entire post, you would know that I am not using the douche mixture! And you would also see that I know how bad douching is so never have. I am filling the douche with just warm water and using that "in there". Doing the same thing your doing Stina but on the inside too.

Even water could cause problems. Water can have a very wide ph range and in areas with hard water could even neutralize the ph of the vagina increasing your chance of yeast infections. Plus if you are in areas with chlorinated water I doubt that's great in there and if you are on well water so it isn't chlorinated I'd worry about the bacteria level in the water. You are better off using a mild douche solution like strongly diluted vinegar in bottled or pure water or something similar that is known to be close to the ph of the vagina.

After sex I can push all semen out just by muscles and gravity. Any mucus that comes out after that or at other times I just keep a vagisil wipe on hand to clean things up after it's on the outside. Sometimes, especially if I shave, I use a honey powder from lush down there to dry up excess moisture, soften the skin, stop irritation, and make things smell better. Apparently it doesn't taste bad either. I had just shaved, dried, and applied honey powder to keep my skin soft and without irritation when my husband couldn't resist doing oral on my freshly shaved parts. I'd forgotten all about the powder until he mentioned the interesting taste and smell.

I just looked up that powder. I may have to get some, I use baby powder after I shave, but I may have to try that.

Baby powder gave me allergies down there. I just use lukewarm water and nothing else. Soap just goes to the hinges of my legs and that's it. I wash often though. And pH issues are true, hence, I once cleaned myself with purified water.

              ReeNa8589, lets "QUOTE" you:-

              Thank you everyone for responding...

I bought a douche and cleaned it out well, then just slowly squeezed warm water inside me. Then I used Summers Eve Sensitive Cherry Blossom wash on the outside down there. Did do the powder thing again, but probably wont do this every day (might be irritating).

Ermmm....you just said you "bought a douche and cleaned it out well". See where that might make people thing you had douched? Also, when you ask a question such as the one you asked, you get a lot of responses because people want to help. People want to keep you from making the same mistakes they made. They simply want to help. No one would stone you if you were a doucher. We're all just trying to help. Take it or leave it.

Yes "bought a douche and cleaned THE DOUCHE out". Didnt want to use the mixture in the bottle. I was not disrespecting anyone! I am allowed to state my opinion and/or correct people to make them understand what I meant...

I'm prone to getting urinary tract infections so less is more in my case. I use odorless summer's even wash every day in the shower. I heard the problem with douching is that it pushes bacteria up further into your vagina so I'm not sure if it makes a difference if there's anti-bacterial solution in there or water.

I just wash and don't stink. Lucky me I guess.

I really like the Rephresh vaginal suppositories. They keep me super fresh down there. They aren't cheap, but work so good.
