I suggested the diaphram idea last night, but she's concerned that it's not as effective as the pill. And neither of us like condoms.

So I'm going to get the vasectomy sometime soon.

I just wanted to say how much I admire your efforts to make your sex life better for both of you. How much you really want this to work and how much you love and find your wife sexy. I think it's so wonderful.

Still, I think that great. Believe me (and others) who have not regretted that decision in the least.

I also think your wife will thank you for it also.

By the way, I also know a couple that chose vasectomy after three children. It's all well for them, no more babies and no side effects.

I've heard that the initial cut (or is it the application of local anesthetic?) hurts like a mother (edit). Ouch! Not looking forward to that. I'll find a doctor on my insurance plan that has done a LOT of vasectomies. The odds of complications are greatly reduced with an experienced doctor. (I know, I state the obvious, but the research I've done I found stats for stuff like that)

              Ever get novacaine?

It's no worse than any other shot. Once it's numb, you won't feel a thing. It'll be over before you are even aware that he's doing anything.

It will be sore for a couple of days at most. It's a couple of stitches. After about a week when you go and do the follow up and the semen sample says zero, then it good to go.

At worst, you may not want to have sex for a couple of weeks. At worst.

My bf said that it really didn't hurt much at all. Probably depends on your own level of pain tolerence. But I bet it hurt pretty bad when your wife gave birth.

Sex with a man who has had a vasectomy is great. As long as you have a monogamous relationship, it's No worries. I suspect a lot of the women we get posting here with all sorts of sexual problems that are probably due to artificial hormones or stress would find themselves much better off if the man in their life had a vasectomy.

My DH agrees there is pain during the procedure but nothing that is not manageable and it does not last long... Again... try having contractions for 12+ hours... If you are done having children a vasectomy is not a bad idea and EVERYTHING has risk. If it is something you are willing to do then go for it, if not, then you can not totally blame your wife especially if the BC really is affecting her.
