As Stillness mentioned a women - in short - generally has MUCH more to lose from sex with the wrong person/s: damage to reputation via the moral criticism many societies wrongly place on female sexual activity; dealing with the consequences of accidental pregnancy i.e., a baby or an abortion; STD's; the safety aspect of being around dangerous men etc.

I actually think in the right circumstances (being on holiday is a good example since they'll likely be enjoying the sun, free from stress and emotionally more relaxed, plus there is the absence of social and moral criticism for having casual sex) women are actually a lot hornier than men.

Men may - at least when they're younger - want sex more frequently than women, but once a woman is switched on and up and running actually satisfying her requires more work than satisfying an amorous young man. From my experience women in their 30's (especially mid to late) and 40's want sex MORE, and are more demanding (they know what they want and need to get off) than girls in their late teens and twenties. I'm not saying girls in their 20's don't enjoy sex, far from it, but a typical couple both in their early 20's will probably see the man wanting sex more than the women, and the woman having sex more to keep the man happy then because she really desires the sex. I'm not saying this is good as she may not find it particularly satisfying, especially coupled with the fact that a younger man is likely going to be much more excitable and thus a less capable lover.
No matter how objective we try to be, we all see through our own eyes...

That is to say once she's/ if she's found the man she wants she's likely to want to have sex for a lot longer than the man and perhaps want more orgasms than the man (one or two is enough for me, three is a real push nowadays).

In answer to the OPs original question I would say that I don't agree with the premise that women have lower sex than men.

My guess is that the OP is a teenage male (no criticism) and with a teenage boys libido and absence of social skills/understanding of women (which is EXACTLY what I was like up until my early twenties) may quite understandably feel that women want sex much less than men.

I'm right now listening to NPR where the discussion is with an Egyptian woman who wrote a book on Female Sexuality in Egypt. It is so very interesting. As to the sub-discussion on cultural views she said that 90% of "ever-married" women and 80% of 15-17 year old girls have been circumcised. This is always a decision made by mothers and grandmothers and not involving the fathers. The reasons that they do it is twofold - 1. The female drive would be too strong and make girls lose their virginity & 2. When married the wife's sexual demands would be too high for the husband and that would endanger the marriage.

If anyone can catch this discussion on your local station it's on now - probably for another 1/2 hr. She's also discussing polls of Egyptian women who are dissatisfied sexually and are afraid to let their husbands know how much they desire sex.

            Sex and the Citadel

It's off now, but if anyone is interested in this (as I'm sure most of us are) there will probably be a transcript and a podcast up soon. It was a Fresh Air interview with Shereen El Feki. Her book is Sex and the Citadel. I googled "Sex and the Citadel NPR" and found it, but I just don't think they've had time to put it all up yet.

I think the only reason women don't have the desire is because they haven't enjoyed sex in the past.

People are simple if its pleasurable then they will enjoy it if its uncomfortable or painful they wont.

              All women enjoy orgasm.

The more orgasms you give them the more they want it.

testosterone. When I got off birth control after being on it for 10 years my testosterone sky rocketed and I felt like a how a boy must feel going through puberty...it was nuts! Some women have higher levels of testosterone than others so I think this plays a big role.

I hope that you remain as blessed as you have been to not have to deal with an unaffectionate mate.
