In my experience, not all women like their vaginas fingered and/or mouthed.

Thats cuz they haven't me yet!

Jokes aside, thats kinda weird. Did those enjoy having their vagina penetrated? At aby rate there a lot more areas to work with, fortunately.

Yes, sex is amazing every single time. That was with rubbers on. Without is even better. That first time was 21 years ago and it still feels like the first time every single time to me. The last time I was with my wife I felt like a virgin.
I'm of the "fuzzy porn" generation as well. I think we may have been the last generation to be raised with a belief that sex isn't just about "hooking up" not that it didn't happen. When sex is devoid of a connection to feelings for the other party it's just about "the plumbing" coming together. Like all things in life, it's a case of you get what you give. If you have feelings deeper than physical attraction it may not be amazing the first time but it definitely WILL get better. My first time was in 1994 with my now husband. I used to think that the girls who had a lot of guys were the lucky ones. I've come realize that I'm the lucky one. I get to have sex with someone who has seen me at my best and at my worst and still loves me. That completely trumps having had many partners in so many ways I can't begin to enumerate.

I wish that my first time could have been with my wife. A lot of our values are really messed up.

As the mother of a six year old, I know how messed up values are today.

We went to different schools, our friends were dating and set us up for our respective proms. We were even odd among couples our age at the time. We waited over a year before our first time. Not to say we didn't have plenty of chances. What you said about being comfortable with your partner is very true. When you wait as long as we did, you know each other on completely different level than if you're just "hooking up" with Mr. Ms. Right Now.

Different people enjoy sex differently: loving, spiritual, a sort of game, quick hookups, kinky / dirty - some people want different things at different times. All is fine as long as the people involved aren't deceiving each other - or themselves.

I think though that for most people is is not simply the physical sensations that make sex with another person special. Most people (men and women) can masturbate to orgasm faster than they can get there with a partner. If the only think someone wants from sex is purely physical stimulation, there is really no need to involve another partner.

Yes, it's about the emotional connection with your partner. For those who thin who think it's physical alone, consider the following. The first time I had sex with my husband after I went off Lexapro (initially to try a vitamin therapy) I actually cried. Not like I did after listening to beat himself up about my lack in response which was sad, bitter, long and completely negative. It more like the tears of happiness I cried on our wedding day. Any length of time is a long time to feel completely disconnected from the person you love. That was probably the first time I had felt anything but gray, robotic and angry in years.

Is sex really that great? Is usually always equally amazing each time?

I've had really great orgasms from maturbation. Probably 25% of the time its mind boggling. Certainly better than the few times I had sex. Sometimes its hard to imagine sex could be any better.

I assume most people's first time is euphoric. Is sex able to maintain that level of awesomeness ?
a_dub, I suppose you have answers and observations about these topics now.
