I'm very sorry claret. Seems after reading that, there's some insensitivity in my posting anything but supportive words for you. You are strong to have not only survived, but prospered after the trauma.

My contribution here may go a bit in a different direction. I don't regret any sex I've ever had, only that I've had so little of it over the years. I've realized the last few weeks that I am comparatively inexperienced for my age. I was with my ex hubby for a total of over 20 yrs of my life. Yeah, I said wow when I realized that too. Wth. So much sex I never had!
So my area of regret, if I can call it that, is that I've never had a great, fulfilling, sexy, exciting sex life. I want that.
I feel like a virgin all over again in some ways, and that's very difficult to admit. Now I feel like I can't be as free as I'd like to be.

kitty, I just started reading Nina Hartley's Guide to Total Sex, I finished the intro but haven't gotten into the meat of it yet. The intro however is great, I think if they used the intro and good anatomy lessons, they'd have a good sex ed class. I'd give the book a read if I was you, might help to make you less feel less like a nervous virgin. The intro talks about the ethics of sex and communication and such and the meat is pretty detailed about everything from masturbation to various fetishes. You can skip the stuff that's not your bag and get some really good info and ideas for the stuff you'd like to try. She really emphasizes safe sex as well and talks about what is and isn't safe, so it's a great starting point for newbies, old hats and those like yourself getting back out there. Just a thought...

It's never too late to have it, kitty. I think if you're feeling an upturn in desire and hornyness, that may just be your normal age-related libido finally kicking into gear. You're definitely in what's commonly considered the sweet spot now.

When out driving always turn left. Then, should you become lost, you can find your way home by reversing the procedure and always turning right.

Well, if we believe the cereal commercial, she won't reach her peak until she's 80. ;-)
