And I feel I should agree heartily with effy. If you are honest with yourself, you'll have to agree that you are drawn to types that will only bring you down. Only four months in and you are tearing yourself up over what to do when the answer is so patently clear to all others. This man is a disaster and he'll make your life one.

As effy suggests, can staying in such a hopeless relationship be something you would seriously consider, when it means losing support of family and friends? You cannot mean that. If you are willing to consider it even for a moment, yes, you should seek counseling to gain some insight into what has drawn you to such destructive relationships. Work out your own issues, then seek a relationship in which you can have some fulfillment and peace. That would include a relationship in which you can have a normal sexual relationship. That's what brought you here in the first place. Along the way, you discovered that a serious drug addiction was precluding that. Now that you know what's behind it, you must also know the chances of that changing are small indeed.

Without sounding harsh, you need to be in therapy. You have an attraction to abusive and addictive men. You are willing to lose a supportive family . . . at a time that you really need them . . . to stay with this man. All this for a four month relationship? My supposition is that there are significant co-dependency issues that should be worked out.
Excellent advice effy and I agree, you hit the nail on the head

Thank you all taking the time to reply and for the care, concern and advice! I agree with everything you say. I know I'm drawn to types with issues. I have been seeing a counselor and taking anxiety meds. Thanks again!

Well good luck Valove, I sure hope you can get some answer for your self soon and what avenues you can take. But your SO needs to want to fix him self not for someone else or it will never happen. So thank you for sharing your issue here on WH with us all here so good luck what ever road you end up taking.
When out driving always turn left. Then, should you become lost, you can find your way home by reversing the procedure and always turning right.
