For any guys voting, and I wont, it skews the results and since this is a woman's forum Im more interested in what the most exotic creature on the face of the earth thinks. That's women. For me its selfishly aimed at trying to make the best woman in the world feel like she is the only one in the world who happens to be my wife. She already makes me feel like that. Most days.

Could you please make this a girls only poll by the honor system?

I apologize for not revisiting this thread after my response. How do certain sex acts get to be taboos? I believe that individuals perceive "dirtiness" because they buy into societal taboos. Religion has given us a number of sexual abominations that many if us now practice regularly. Since those taboos change significantly over time, it's hard to pin down what is nasty or dirty at any given time. However, those phrases mean more to me than just being sexual. They imply sex acts which people only whisper about. Decades ago, it could mean anal sex or even sex with a prostitute. It's always been so about sex with animals. Today it could be more hardcore forms of S&M or watersports (golden showers and the like) or sex in a taboo relationship (ie step-child or relative). So I can understand the fascination and curiosity of doing something taboo, but not just because it's taboo. And certainly not because it's dirty. I don't get that. I'd like to know where that comes from. Does it stem from beliefs that sp mentioned that sex for pleasure is dirty, so people associate that pleasure with dirtiness? I just hear people called "dirty" or "naughty" for being sexual and sexual acts called "dirty" and "nasty" so much, that I wonder. Is it just a euphemism for "sexual?" It seems like more. And if so, how did that come to be.
Do people do these acts because they are considered dirty? That has to be part of pushing that envelope. But I think there has to be more than that, certainly to do an act more than once . . something inside you that thinks there must be some pleasure in it. As we age and have partners who have had multiple (or many multiples) of other partners, I can see doing something taboo to have something only the the two of you have shared. But I think it's always more than just "let's do this because everyone thinks we will go to hell for it.""The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you." That would make sense to me. But I think that for some people, the fact that an act is dirty or taboo is part of the pleasure. Look at CoolBreeze's comment above: "Being vanilla can only take you to a certain level of pleasure. It's the taboo breaking that takes you to new heights."Do people do these acts because they are considered dirty? That has to be part of pushing that envelope. My definition of not dirty is far from most people's definition of clean or pure... I wouldn't call my preferences either one. There are people who do things that would be considered far dirtier than what I do and there are people who would call sex beyond missionary for reproductive purposes not pure. I'm somewhere in the middle of the sliding scale. I don't really care about what society considers normal or taboo. If it's fun I do it and if I find I don't like it then I don't do it.Comment
