Its horrible. they say that there is minimal weight gian with the IUD cause its localized hormones. BULL! i wegh more now than i did 2 WEEKS after i had my son. I think that the worst part of it is the sex. my drive is still there but its almost impossible to climax. and not only that my husband says sometimes after sex that "it's the meanest creature that God ever created and now yours has teeth" he said it hurts him! or as he says it "bites" him. i thought it was nice at first barely having a period. but i would rather have one than have all the side effects that the doctors say dont exist...being ticked off all the time is another major one. anyway im sorry that other people are having issues too but i am glad that im not crazy thinkin its just me.

If your IUD is hurting your husband it's because your strings are too long. Get with your doctor about this and he/she should be able to trim them.

Actually, it can be because the IUD has partially slipped back through the cervix and the back end is protruding. That's supposed to hurt the guy pretty bad, too.

Old thread but for the record an IUD can be placed perfectly and have issues. I had an ultrasound to confirm placement of mine because of pain and bleeding 3weeks later. They said absolutely perfect. Next day it was in my cervix. I would have never known if I hadn't checked it right after sex because of increased blood flow when I went to the bathroom. Your cervix changes angles during sex and contractions happen which must have made it noticeable. An hour later I couldn't feel it anymore and my strings were left quite long so I didn't notice the change in length. My doctor said it was odd to have it moving in and out like that but checked and sure enough my IUD was wedged in my cervix. Here I was all relieved the pain had suddenly stopped after the ultrasound only to find the IUD had mostly come out. That was 3 weeks I could have done without plus months of scheduling issues to have it inserted when I could have started birth control pills again. Only explanation given the ultrasound is my uterus decided to be extra sensitive to having a foreign object shoved in it.

Yes, an IUD can be placed perfectly and is a good form of birth control. But like beebee stated in her comment above, IUDs are not perfect for everyone. It is likely that some women will expell their IUD within the first 3 to 6 month period. Cramping and bleeding can sure be signs of that.

            Had my IUD

I got my Iud 3 weeks after having my son. He's now 5 years old and its time to switch it for another. I havent had any trouble out of mine since I got it. I got a yeast infection. But other than that I havent had any trouble. I havent had a period in the time we have had it. Can you imagion 5 yrs and no periods? The reson why I got this to begin with is because I couldnt take normal birth control. I tried the pills and stayed sick, I tried the patch and then at age 24 I had a minni stroke. So I couldnt do anything. The only option I had was keep having kids every 2 yrs or get this. So I got it. I love it. Its not for everyone but it was fantasic for me.Wouldnt trade it for another type of Bc.

I try IUD the first time i use birth control it caused bad only, i always have pain. The worse experience that i have using IUD is when my husband and i try to make love it's really sucks coz it's very painful not only for me but also to my husband and it's form also change i am very worried that's why i went to my doctor and ask her to remove it only coz maybe it will be more bad if i will continue to use that.

It seems that the majority of complaints with the IUDs are with the hormone laced ones. Adding to hormoes to an IUD makes little sense except to reduce or try to eliminate women's cycles. Your cycle is part of your earth connection and your body's natural rhythm and should not be messed with just as some sort of "convienence".
Every woman is different. I had one (non hormonal) for years with no problems at all. Insertion was easy, removal barely noticable and the years inbetween a breeze.
