Well I had acne before the Iud so I don't know If its to blame, and the weight gain, I don't know either because I have also been taking anti anxiety meds for the longest time, besides that life has been tough lately and all I do is want food. Apparently my Iud has run its course, 5 years and counting, hopefully it has no more hormones in it. My doctor said that the Iud has less hormones than compared to birth control pills. So I am confused. -
I had a plain old copper IUD for years without a single problem. Don't understand why you would take one loaded with hormones. One of the advantanges of the IUD should be BC without messing your hormones up! Ditch those hormone filled nightmares and get a good old fashioned one! No muss, no fuss, no getting your system all out of wack!Comment

I had heard that the cooper IUD cause A LOT more bleeding and cramping?? Is that not true in your case? I am sure all these symptoms are from the horomones. I mean I had a little light blonde hair around my belly button from when I had my son but now it is black which I am sure is caused my the male horomone that is in the mirena. Now I am checking into laser hair removal because I can't stand it. The mirena made my hair fall out and turn the rest of of any light blonde hair on my body black. UGHHHHH I am glad to be done with this thing. I am 2 days post removal. We will see how bad it gets before it gets better.I had a plain old copper IUD for years without a single problem. I had an IUD put in earlier this year and I went through these same problems. I have the ParaGuard. It took 6 months to be normal again, they told me it would take atleast that long for my body to get used to it. It was a looooong 6 months but all the pain is worth the 10 years of protection. My cramps still hurt but not nearly as bad as they were when I first got it. I say hang in there with it, it will be worth it in the end.Hello!
Well I had the IUD just recently and to be frank, it sucks! I'm basically on my period for three out of four weeks. My parter's pest and I always seem to be in a bad mood now. I have constant cramps that feels like a tiny shock. I had a sono done to see if it was in place and everything seem to be normal. I asked about the period problem and they said to give it some time but my patience is running short. I need to find another method for birth control only that now I'm hesitant in what I should take.Comment

I just had my copper IUD removed today after a year and a half of BAD cramps and heavy bleeding (period lasted 7-9 days). I felt pain in my back, ovaries, uterus, all over the lower abdomin for 20 days out of a month. I was trying to stick it out, but I am so glad its out now. I am really dissapointed because I can't do hormonal things and the copper seemed like the only real option. Unfortunately it didn't work out. Some women try one method and they are fine and some keep trying and nothing works. The copper IUD might work just fine for you, you have to try it, its different from hormonal one, but it can be a pain. It was a lot of pain for me, for sure. Good luck!I had heard that the cooper IUD cause A LOT more bleeding and cramping?? Is that not true in your case? I am sure all these symptoms are from the horomones. I've had the mirena almost three years. The past year, I noticed I started having more normal periods, month over month. Before the mirena, I didn't bleed more than 5 days now it's at least 7 days. Though I am on 7 days, I don't bleed heavy, usually--it's more spotting than anything. This time has been bad. I posted a post to try to get some insight on the problems I'm having. Depo didn't do it for me nor am I interested in taking the pulls. I don't know what to do.Comment

Copper IUD
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to write and say that I have had a very successful experience with the copper IUD. After months of pondering and weighing options, I decided to go for the copper one (mainly because hormonal BC options don't work for me). The price agreed with me as well!
I had heard horror stories about friends getting them and having huge cramps and incessant bleeding. I still went ahead. Basically, it was slightly uncomfortable to have it placed, but I took advil prior to the appointment. I had light bleeding until my next period, at which point it stopped.
Since then, my partner cannot feel anything inside me during intercourse, I have had no irregular bleeding. My cramps were not greater, nor was my flow heavier than prior to getting the iud. I have only had one period since, however, but so far the experience has been painless.
I would encourage other women to at least give the iud a try, since the benefits seem to far outweigh the costs.Comment

Problems with the Paraguard IUD
I just got the copper IUD put in on April 23rd and I just notice today that I have an yeast infection. The first three I bled so much. I have content cramps and abdominal been hurting for the past two days. I am a medical assistant so I know what an yeast infection look like. I looked up iud and yeast infection and all of the speakers said that they have experience some type of bacteria infection, due to the IUD. I have an appointment on the 4th of may and I will be getting it taken out. I will not advise anyone to get a IUD. I will go back on the pill. I can deal with a little nausea over yeast infection.Comment
