Silicone lubes are generally made from synthetic ingredients — and that can be a bit of a turn-off for a lot of folks.

After all, when we think of silicone, things like caulking, cooking utensils, or even breast implants immediately come to mind.

The truth is that silicone lubes are incredibly body-safe and great for folks with allergies or skin sensitivities, plus they’re long-lasting, waterproof, and highly versatile during vaginal and anal sex.

When I was given an opportunity to try Wet Platinum Luxury Silicone Lubricant, I was excited to do so — and I’m glad I did because it surprised me in ways I could not have predicted.

Wet Platinum has a lightweight texture that feels really natural and slick during use.

As one of the best lubes for women, it resembles your body’s own lubrication, only better — because it lasts an incredibly long time.

Like the Energizer bunny, it just keeps going, and going…so you can, too!

Photograph Of Hands Holding A Bottle Of Wet Platinum Silicone Lubricant

Thanks to Wet Platinum Luxury Silicone Lubricant, you won’t even have to think about getting or staying wet during sex — ever again.

I’ve never used such a slippery lube before!

If you’re brand new to silicone lubricants, you’ll definitely pick up on Wet Platinum’s soft, unique texture and consistency right away.

It’s luxurious and smooth, yet also surprisingly lightweight.

Using a concentrated formula of high-quality, body-safe silicones, this lube won’t become sticky no matter how long your sexual adventures last and it’s completely odorless, colorless, and tasteless!

(And yes — silicone lube is edible in small amounts and can totally be used for oral sex if you want!)

The bonus?

It’s made from a very short list of high-quality, body-safe ingredients, which means those with allergies or sensitive skin can use this lube without hesitation.

Wet Platinum feels very slick and smooth during use, making vaginal and anal penetration almost effortless.

With a perfect 5 out of 5 rating, Wet Platinum is one of the best and safest silicone lubes out there.

If you’ve been looking high and low for a great one-and-done, a-little-goes-a-long-way silicone sex lubricant, Wet Platinum is exactly what you’re searching for.

Why Trust Our Review:

I’m a connoisseur of silicone-based lubricants because of their delicious texture and long-lasting nature and have tested dozens of different brands over many years and honed in on what to look for and what to avoid for the most pleasurable results.

I’ve been personally curating and writing reviews of the very best lube and sex toy products that I’ve found for Women’s Health Interactive for over a year.

Other Reasons:

  • Safety: Before any product is personally tested by our team, or recommended, it must meet strict requirements for body-safe ingredients with minimal risk of allergies.
  • Performance: Then, in the case of lubricants, that product must have a quality formulation with texture and consistency in mind, and of course, deliver optimal performance during use.
  • Industry Experts: Finally, anyone personally testing products and making recommendations (often multiple people on our team review a product and form a consensus) is an industry professional, subject matter expert, and connoisseur of that genre of product.

For accuracy and thoroughness, we also have an expert from our medical review board medically evaluate all reviews.

We do not accept paid placements, and all our recommendations are brand-neutral and what we deem to be the best products for the task at hand, with no agenda.

Pros And Cons Of Wet Platinum

Image Of Wet Platinum Silicone Lubricant With Pros Listed On The Right Side

Wet Platinum Luxury Silicone Lubricant’s formula is made up of four concentrated, high-quality silicones that stay slippery and silky throughout any type of sex play.

This lube takes sex to a whole new level of luxury and pleasure but like all things in life, there are pros and cons to consider.

The Pros Of Wet Platinum

  • Super long-lasting and extremely slippery, requiring little reapplication
  • Lightweight texture that’s closer to your body’s natural lubrication than most silicone lubes usually are
  • Can be used for vaginal, anal, and even oral sex
  • Completely colorless, odorless, and tasteless
  • A little goes a long way
  • Made from body-safe silicones; glycerin and paraben-free
  • Good for those with sensitive skin
  • Waterproof for use in the bath or shower
  • Compatible with all types of condoms
  • Compatible with dental dams and diaphragms that are NOT made from silicone
  • Compatible with most sex toys that are NOT made from silicone

The Cons Of Wet Platinum

  • Cannot be used with silicone sex toys
  • Cannot be used with silicone diaphragms or dental dams
  • Not safe for those with allergies to silicone
  • Disc-top cap on the bottle can leak
  • Doesn’t come with a pump (smaller sizes)
  • Can stain sheets and bedding

Wet Platinum doesn’t dry out or get sticky over time, making it perfect for long-lasting sex sessions.

There is no smell or taste to this product either, making it a great option for people with aversions to strong scents or flavors.

You don’t need much of this lube to get you going and since it’s so long-lasting, you also won’t find yourself reapplying it very often — if at all.

In addition, the slippery texture of this lube makes it a great option for anal sex, deep vaginal penetration, or marathon sex sessions — it’s a perfect lube for women especially.

Wet Platinum is perfect for shower sex adventures because it isn’t water-soluble so it won’t rinse away in, or under, water.

At the same time, it’s easy to remove from your skin with a little soap and water!

This lubricant is safe to use with all condom types, although you’ll want to avoid using it with silicone diaphragms or dental dams, as the lube can degrade their silicone material.

This is also why you shouldn’t use Wet Platinum (or any silicone-based lube) with silicone sex toys.

While the disc-top cap is easy to operate, it does tend to leak product easily.

Since the lube itself is very slippery, you might find that by the end of the night, the bottle will be covered in lube.

It’s nothing a quick rinse with soap and water can’t remedy, however.

A pump would easily fix the leaking cap problems that arise with this lube, so if you have a spare one lying around, you might find it helpful to switch out the cap for a pump to prevent leaking.

Larger product sizes do offer a pump — but only with bottles sized 16 ounces and above.

While I personally haven’t found this product to be particularly bad in terms of staining, some have mentioned having problems with this lube staining their sheets or clothing.

If you’re worried about stains, I recommend laying a spare towel down before you play to catch spills — or just make sure to use sheets you don’t care much about.

That way, your mind can focus only on what it needs to — enjoying yourself during sex — rather than worrying about how you’re going to get a lube stain out of your favorite sheets.

How To Use Wet Platinum

Photograph Of Wet Platinum Silicone Lubricant Being Poured On The Back Of A Hand To Demonstrate Its Texture

In my experience, the best way to use Wet Platinum Luxury Silicone Lubricant is during sexplay and right before penetration.

Like most silicone lubes, it only takes a few drops — so start with a little bit of lube on your genitals, fingers, or sex toys, and only add more if and when you need it.

If you add too much lube at once, you’ll be more likely to experience leakage on your sheets, bedding, or other nearby fabrics — and this product can leave stains behind.

Silicone lubricant is safe to swallow, so you don’t have to worry if any of it makes contact with your mouth — or if you want to use it during oral sex.

This lube also works great as a massage oil!

I highly recommend using it during an erotic massage because its luxurious texture and soft feel really turn up the heat and romance.

When NOT To Use Silicone-Based Lubricant

Avoid using Wet Platinum — or any silicone lube — with silicone-based sex toys, diaphragms, or dental dams.

Silicone lube will degrade their material — destroying your toy and rendering such STI or pregnancy barriers ineffective.

Silicone lube is safe to use with all types of condoms, so in theory, if you wanted to pair Wet Platinum with your favorite silicone dildo, you could put a condom over it first.

Even so, the lubricant might work its way beneath the condom during use and come into contact with your silicone toy if you’re not careful.

If you want to keep things stress-free and protect your investment — silicone sex toys can be expensive! — just refrain from using your silicone lube and choose a water-based lubricant, instead.

You also should not use silicone sex lube if you or your partner(s) are allergic to silicone.

As we mentioned earlier, such allergies are rare — but they’re not unheard of.

If silicone-based lubes like Wet Platinum are out of the question, you may have better luck choosing a lubricant designed for sensitive skin.

How To Clean Silicone-Based Lube

Like most silicone lubricants, Wet Platinum can certainly stain fabrics.

Even if you’re only using a little bit of lube, it can potentially leak and make its way onto your clothes or sheets.

Not to worry — you can get the stain out by soaking the material in dish soap (one with a grease-lifting formula) or by using a spray degreaser or stain-removing pre-treatment before throwing your sheets in the washer.

One of the things I like most about this lube is the fact that it’s waterproof, but it requires a bit more than just a simple rinse to remove it from your skin.

I’ve found that soap and water work well to remove silicone lubricants after use.

Baby wipes are also useful to have on hand for a quick wipe-down when cleaning up after sex, but you may need to use a few of them to remove the lube from your bits completely.

If you’ve got the time, a simple shower with your favorite body wash will do.

How Wet Platinum Compares To Other Silicone Lubricants

Image Featuring Multiple Sizes Of Wet Platinum Silicone Lubricant Highlighting "Luxury You Can Feel"

The one thing I noticed about Wet Platinum Luxury Silicone Lubricant is how lightweight the texture is compared to other silicone lubes.

In the past, silicone-based lubricants I’ve used have been noticeably thicker, offering great cushion for penetration but with a much more “unnatural” feel as the trade-off.

Wet Platinum, on the other hand, offers you the best of both worlds, essentially.

It’s just as long-lasting as other silicone lubricants — and waterproof — but it has a texture that feels lighter and more natural at the same time.

That said, it can certainly be used as an anal lubricant but it may not offer the same amount of cushion compared to formulated anal lubricants.

So if you’re looking for something thicker and heavier, you may want to consider a different silicone-based lube.

The Ingredients In Wet Platinum And Their Safety

Collage Image Of Wet Platinum Silicone Lubricant Along With Its Directions, Ingredients, And Warnings

Wet Platinum Luxury Silicone Lubricant contains only four body-safe ingredients, making it an excellent lube option for people with sensitive skin or allergies.

Let’s take a closer look at Wet Platinum’s ingredients.

  • Dimethicone: Also known as PEG 8, dimethicone is a type of silk-like silicone that’s commonly found in cosmetic products. It’s known for its safe and non-irritating hydration properties.
  • Dimethiconol: In the same family of silicones as dimethicone, dimethiconol is a silicone polymer and conditioning agent used in skincare products. It was regarded as a safe ingredient for use in personal care products by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review board in 2017.
  • Cyclopentasiloxane: Also known as D5 or decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, cyclopentasiloxane is another silicone compound used in different skincare and haircare products. It provides moisture and acts as an effective emollient.
  • Phenyl Trimethicone: Phenyl trimethicone is a more viscous type of silicone compared to dimethicone, giving this lube its signature silky-soft glide. It prevents skin from losing hydration and is considered to be a highly safe form of silicone.

Now that we’ve talked about the ingredients in Wet Platinum, let’s take a look at the ones that aren’t found in its formula.

This lube is free from glycerin, parabens, petroleum jelly, mineral oil, and added fragrances, flavors, or dyes that should not be used on or around your genitals.

Such ingredients can alter the pH of your vagina or anus and lead to the growth of unwanted bacteria, causing irritation, skin reactions, or even infections.

There are many silicone lubes on the market today, but it’s hard to find one that has as few ingredients as Wet Platinum.

That said, you should not use this lube if you have a silicone allergy as this lube is entirely made up of silicones.

Silicone allergies are rare, however, reactions are usually delayed.

It’s always a good idea to test out any new lubricant on a small patch of skin before using it on your genitals.

Apply some of the product to the inside of your wrist or elbow and monitor the area for signs of irritation or rash.
