I recently had an opportunity to test drive the latest sex toy from LELO — the LELO SILA clitoral stimulator.

If you have a clitoris, you NEED this sex toy in your life.

Before we get into exactly what makes the LELO SILA so amazing, it’s important to know exactly what kind of sex toy we’re dealing with.

A traditional vibrating sex toy has a spinning motor (or more, depending) that creates stimulating vibrations. These vibrations are localized and can often be turned up or down.

The LELO SILA, on the other hand, is a sonic clitoral stimulator.

Sonic stimulation happens with a different type of motor — one that emits a pulse of energy that is at once powerful but not overwhelming to areas with a high-concentration of nerve endings, like the clitoris.

Technically still vibrations, these sonic pulses travel deeper and further without overstimulating all your favorite places.

What sonic clitoral massagers offer is closer to a deep tissue massage than a traditional sex toy.

That’s a big bonus here because there’s more to the clitoris than meets the eye. Literally. The part of the clit that you can see is really just the tip of the iceberg.

The LELO SILA, unlike the other vibes you probably have in your nightstand, provides a pleasant and deep massage to the entire clitoris.

After trying it out extensively myself, I gave this product a 4.8 (out of 5) rating. In fact, the LELO SILA also made our list of the best clit vibrators and our list of the best clit sucking vibrators available right now!

Why I Think The LELO SILA Is A Must-Have Sex Toy

In terms of construction and durability, the LELO SILA has it all.

Crafted from soft silicone that feels a lot like skin, this versatile clitoral stimulator is USB rechargeable and 100% waterproof — not to mention great at what it was designed for.

What Makes The LELO SILA A Great Sex Toy?

Sonic clitoral stimulators are pretty amazing to begin with, but the LELO SILA offers better materials and construction compared to more popular sonic pulse toys like the Womanizer or Satisfyer.

The sonic stimulation of the SILA is less intense and more diffuse than that of some of its competitors.

For that reason, I found that it’s well-suited to edging — long masturbation sessions either without a leg-shaking climax or where putting off climax for as long as possible eventually leads to a world-shattering O.

The ridge surrounding the opening helps the pulses to radiate outward, lending a variety of sensations to the clitoris, vulva, labia minora, and maybe even the G-spot, depending on your body shape and placement.

Because it offers less intense stimulation that penetrates more deeply, the SILA is the kind of toy that can help users to know their body better.

Getting a sense of how different placements or angles feel can help you to discover exactly where you gain the most pleasure — and how to get there with a partner if that’s something you’re looking for.

Additionally, the LELO SILA is the perfect sex toy for women who are seeking clitoral stimulation that’s less intense, whether due to sensitivity issues or simply personal preference.

What Are The Pros And Cons Of The LELO SILA?

After outlining why I think the LELO SILA is a great sex toy, let’s now talk about some of the finer points and nuances of this deliciously effective sonic clitoral stimulator.

LELO SILA Pros:

  • Hands-free use
  • Feels like marathon clit sucking without pauses or human error
  • Use time on a full charge is nearly 2 hours
  • Also good on nipples
  • Discrete packaging and appearance
  • Pretty quiet — though you may not be
  • Excellent for long edging sessions (explained in previous section)
  • Good for those who prefer less intense clitoral stimulation

LELO SILA Cons:

  • Less powerful than other LELO models
  • Cannot be used during intercourse
  • 3+ hour recharge time — so you’re SOL if you forgot to charge
  • Less versatile than other LELO models

Full disclosure: while the LELO SILA is listed as 100% waterproof, I did not submerge this toy in the tub, as the open charging port made me a little nervous about doing so.

Still, it is advertised as being 100% waterproof and safe for shower and bath play.

How Does The LELO SILA Work?

The SILA has a 3-button interface which is pretty straightforward — even if you don’t want to spend time reading the manual.

The device locks and unlocks by pressing the outer two buttons at once.

The (+) button increases stimulation strength, while (-) lowers it. The middle button on the SILA enables the user to switch to one of eight pulse patterns and can be pressed and held to turn it off.

The eight pulse patterns for clitoral stimulation are all a little different from one another.

There’s a steady pulse with no discernable pattern, one that ramps up quickly, another more slowly, and the remaining options provide a variety of different pulse lengths and patterns.

They all have something unique to offer, but you’ll probably find a favorite right away.

Right now, the third setting meets all of my needs, but it’s good to know I can switch things up later if I want to experiment with another sonic pulse pattern.

From the look of it, you’d never guess that the LELO SILA is a clit massager.

Available in pink, lilac, or aqua, it actually looks a bit like a lady’s razor that was popular in the 1970s.

The one thing it doesn’t look like is a penis — which is how we know that the sex tech industry is finally welcoming female designers who will lead us away from the boringly phallocentric sex toys our moms and grandmoms used.

How Does LELO SILA Compare Vs. LELO SONA, Or SONA 2?

Due to the larger opening and ridge surrounding it, the SILA is somewhat less versatile than the SONA.

My SONA can nestle just under my clit, giving my G-spot exactly what it’s looking for. The SILA doesn’t allow for that because of the size and shape — at least in my own experience.

Obviously, no two women are built exactly alike, so your mileage may vary as far as that goes.

Besides, that kind of versatility is just a bonus. The LELO SILA is advertised as a clitoral stimulator and that’s exactly what it does — superbly!

The SILA, as mentioned, offers less intense sonic pulses than the SONA 2* (or SONA 2 Cruise*) which means it’s probably less useful for a quickie.

For my money, the SONA is better for a fast ‘O’ before I sneak in an afternoon nap.

But for a nice leisurely time — like a long toy-infused makeout sesh with the husband — the LELO SILA is sheer delight.

How Do You Use A LELO SILA?

If you’ve never used a LELO sonic clit massager before or aren’t sure how to use a clit sucking vibrator, it may take a bit of finesse to get it right.

Generally, the opening will go over the exposed hood of the clitoris.

Turning the unit on low will help to nudge it in the right direction — though don’t ask me to explain the science on that.

It’s probably some kind of sex magic.

Overall, there are no wrong ways to use a clitoral stimulator. Experiment and see what works for you.

If it feels good, do it.

The LELO SILA is solidly constructed and waterproof, so feel free to use a water-based lube like Aloe Cadabra Natural Personal Moisturizer & Lubricant* around the ridge to help it latch on to your clit.

Once it latches, you’ll know. And if you’re a screamer, your neighbors might, too.

  • Is The LELO SILA Safe?

The LELO SILA is crafted from ultra-soft silicone, providing safe contact with your most delicate parts.

There’s a pervasive rumor that regular use of vibrating sex toys can cause desensitization and make it more difficult to climax with a partner.

This vibe-reviewer is here to tell you that isn’t so.

A long session with a sex toy could lead to temporary clit numbness, but that’s typically relieved by taking a little break, so feel free to enjoy yourself as much as you want.

So, Is LELO SILA Worth The Money?

The solid construction of the SILA is one of the things you’re paying a little extra for with this new sex toy from LELO.

Remember — sex toys are an investment in your body and your pleasure. It’s worth a few extra dollars to know you have a quality item.

For me, knowing my girl-parts are safe with my toys is absolutely worth the extra expense.
