In my case, the pictures clearly show no fault on the part of the doctor who inserted the coils. The problem for me was simply the coils themselves.

        Re-read the "whole" thread sweet.

From what I can gather, the coils can definately be removed, they are being removed, as there is problems with essure, not in all cases but definately a good amount of cases.

Also, I believe if you read the whole thread you would note that no, they didn't have their tubes tied, it was suggested "after" the essure failed on those people, that's a decision they will or have made.

It's also "holiday season" so don't expect many people to come to this thread, unfortunately as alot of people are away.

Hope that helps you a little.

kim225, I'm not sure why you want them removed. Are you having problems with the metal coils? You asked if it is fact or fiction that some have become pregnant. There are some documented cases. As far a removing the metal coils it just depends on where the coils are. Some women have had to have their tubes removed and a portion of their uterus removed, some have opted for hysterectomy and then some like me only had the coils removed. It is hard to answer your questions not knowing why you want them removed.

            kim225,
I had my coild removed because I was having a lot of back pain, pelvic pain, and constant headaches after the procedure. It was really unbearable. They are not technically supposed to be removed, and that is likely the reason that your doctor is telling you that they cannot be removed. I do not think it is a good idea as an elective procedure if you are not having any problems as you risk a potential hysterectomy. They just do not know how easily the coils will come out, and wether there will be complications during the procedure. For me, the coil came out of one tube fine, but not the other tube so that tube was removed. I know have 1 tube, and I did not have my tube tied after the coil was removed. I do not want any additional children, but I simply did not want to undergo an additional produre. My insurance paid for my removal because I was having post procedure problems. There is a doctor in GA that I know of that will remove the coils for fertility reasons alone. It is a long procedure, and it requires 2 doctors. It is my understanding that the doctors cut the tubes and reimplant them into the uterus. The website indicates that people have been successful in getting pregnant following this procedure. Insurance will not cover this. I looked into it when considering my options because my doctor had never removed the coils, and this doctor had removed them. I cannot remember the cost right now, but it was either $5,000 or $10,000. There are documentated cases of people getting pregnant after Essure even after the HSG test showed blockage. I hope this helps.

              11 weeks pregnant

Hi my name is michelle. I had my essure placed in may of 2007. I received a card with lot# also. The procedure didnt go through the first time. The second time the procedure was painless as well as the hsg showing 100% blockage after 3 months. No problems. I have had a missed period here and there since the procedure with negative pregnancy tests each time. So when I missed my period for 2 months and exhibited many pregnancy symptoms I went to the ER and my fatigue, nausea and other symptoms were attributed to my gallstones but something didnt feel right so a few weeks later I bought 2 home pregnancy tests and received 2 positive readings. I am 30 years old with 4 kids. My last will be 3 in february. My first response was not a pleasant one. I cried for a while. I feel like I am not supposed to be here right now. I was supposed to be done. My missed period puts me at exactly 11weeks. I had way to much faith in this procedure and that led me to ignore the obvious pregnancy symptoms. Taking narcotics for my gallstone pain could have harmed the baby. I havent went to the Dr. yet because im in the process of trying to acquire medicaid. I sure cant wait to see the look on my Drs face when she hears this. As if I dont have enough to worry about now I have to worry about whether the coils are in place or floating around in my body. What a nightmare. This forum was so informative and im greatful for everyone who has shared their stories. And im happy to share I stopped my sister and two sister in laws from getting this procedure after reading this forum.

Hi! I am sorry that the procedure did not work for you. I cannot pretend to know what you are feeling. All I can do is keep trying to warn women about this procedure. I urge you to make a report to the FDA. It is sometimes confusing to do but until enough evidence is gathered that this procedure is not what they claim it to be, they will keep doing on women.

To make a report key in maude fda. Explore the site until you find something that says report adverse event. There are only about 3 places that it allows you to write. Use those places to tell your story. If you have any trouble please let me know and I will be glad to help you.

Looks like making reports to the FDA is making a little difference. Have read some adverse events lately that are posted by the company that say the event happened way back and they originally didn't think it was a reportable event but upon review they decided it was. Just wonder how many there really are?

Wren, I had a coil that the doctor had to report to the Essure company because of a malfunction during insertion and my lot # is 654829 and before reading your post, I never thought of such a thing as a bad batch but now I wonder…it malfunctioned when it deployed so she tried shoving another one in the same tube and I screamed in pain that she had already done that one and after checking the device found out that it had indeed deployed properly but the delivery device screwed up.
