pebe98, Please go look at the maude FDA database and see if the malfunction of the device was reported, if not please make a report. The FDA and the public need to be aware of the problems with this procedure

Sexxyj, You know your body and you know what you feel. Most of us have been thru the its all in your head thing. It may not be the metal coils but if it wasn't happening before then I'd definately insist that they look at the metal coils. Hope you find some answers and keep us posted. It is good for other women to know whether it was actually the metal coils or some other problem.

              Hey Kim,

My period was also brown the first month. Another wierd thing that happened was that the third month after the procedure I had tow periods in one month one week apart 5 days each. That had me so worried. The doctor said I might be pregnant, I told him, I have 5 children and I know when i'm pregnant. I was right, I wasn't. I still have not had the HSG test done because everytime I call they don't have an appt available, mind you i've been calling two different clinics for 3 months. I'm gonna look for two more clinics elsewhere.

SEXXYJ, Do you have cramps all the time or only during your cycle? I didn't have my metal coils long because I never got better from the procedure. I kept thinking give it some more time and everyday it got worse. I felt like something was poking me, pinching me and it was terrible trying to drive, sit for long periods or walk. I hurt so bad from the poking, pinching feeling that I cannot say if I had any actual cramps. It was all on one side also. I have read some posts that say that they had cramps and the thought was that there body was rejecting the metal coils and trying to expell them. Maybe some other ladies who had the cramping could help you better. Best thing you can do is seek medical attention.

                    Essure problems

I had the procedure done in October and am scheduled to have my follow-up in two days...I am terrified. I haven't had cramps/pain but my cycle is completely out of whack. At first I bled non-stop then last month I just quit bleeding and am now 1 week late for my period. My husband and I had this procedure done to prevent another pregnancy (We have a 9yr old, 6yr old & 4mo old - last one was a big suprise.) I was taking oral birth control when I got pregnant with all three. When we had essure done I took the Depo shot thinking my chances were better on that. Since then a close family friend who is a nurse in the OB department has said several women have come in pregnant after the essure procedure. By the way I have all the symptoms I always get when pregnant! Thinking I will take a test but not sure I want to know the answer....Those that have gotten pregnant after essure did you have any other birth control method you were using??????

I have read some posts that say the Depo shot causes some women to have weird periods and weird symptons. I strongly urge you to make sure you are not pregnant before having the HSG test. I don't know what would happen if you were pregnant and had that test. The HSG test puts dye into your uterus then xrays are taken to determine if the tubes have blocked.

One more thing what does your ob friend think of essure other than women are coming back in after procedure pregnant. I guess I'm wondering if she has heard comments from the doctors as to what they think.
