    kym4,

I understand your frustration pertaining to "obvious", posters spamming in a way, in which can be perceived as a "post" of positives over a product...

But like everything, there are "good and there are bad" stories, some are real.

Companies ( edited your last post), pertaining to medical devices do have an obligation to conduct post market surveillance, conducting on-going efforts on data collection.

I suspect therefore, that there is nothing you can do, a Forum is open to the world and as this is a Woman's Health issue, it's easy to tap into "Forums for Woman's Health", then proceed with looking up essure failure...

There off course will be a Marketing devision, and I would imagine these reports given back, on essure failure prompts those in that devision to post a positive notation.

We monitor this thread as hard as we can...

With those such as the poster above, who are hurting and have a concern, any "opinions" from any posters that have been in that situation, may help ease that pain and that's all we can do..

I am aware that there is a complaint department for the company that bought essure failure out and that may be a better course to go direct to the top, rather than the "clinic" Dawnwisconsin, as the clinic would have had to have undergone training in this field and be given the okay to perform this action by the said Company....

I asked the doctors to tie my tubes after my second child and they said no because i was too young. After having the third child I asked again and was told no for the same reason. But they would do the essure procedure. So I went along with it and did it. I got my essure procedure done in December 2008. After getting it my periods and everything were normal. I had my HSG test done in March 2009, and both sides were completely blocked. They said that it worked. Yes!
Everything has been great! Periods and everything are on time and I wasnt getting pregnant.
But now Im a little more then a week late on my period! I took a pregnancy test that came out negative. So it showed that Im not pregnant. Thank God. But has anyone else had missed periods with essure? I just dont get when i would just be late all of a sudden with having it normal and on time for almost a year now. I really hope that someone can help me.

      Thanks.
I have had a similar experience. I had the essure procedure done in August 2008. Went back for the 3 month follow-up and confirmation test in November 2008. The test determined that both sides were completely blocked and I was told everything looked normal and I was sent on my way. I never had any problems until a month or two ago. My period last month was a little late and when I did get it, it was very light and the discharge was dark in color. I took a pregnancy test for peace of mind and it was negative. Now this month it is over a week late. I took another test yesterday which also was negative. I am making an appt with my doctor for a blood test so that I know for sure one way or the other. I don't know why the procedure would suddenly stop working after a year.
      No regrets, only lessons learned

dawnwisconsin, First I am sorry that this has happened to your wife. I will not profess that I know this for a fact, I'd have to do some more research but I believe that scope time on a procedure is limited to 40 minutes. I wasn't there so I don't know what they did but they usually put fluid into the uterus to expand it and then they go in with the scopes and camera, my understanding that keeping the uterus expanding that long with the fluid could cause problems. I will go and do some research and I suggest that you do the same. I suggest that all of us see if we can research that because I have read some other reports of the procedure taking more than a hour. We need to do research and I try to do a lot but if everyone will look at that maybe we can have better knowledge about some of these things. One more question was your wife awake during this procedure or was she asleep?

I'm sorry to hear all these bad things about the product and would advise women out there not to have the procedure done but personal choice and all that.
I'm quite suprised that someone hasnt taken them to court over the product before now. How can you really trust a product that hasnt been fully tested and they dont know the side effects after 5 years. A lot of what I've read here about side-effects after only months is enough to make me sure that this will never be for me.
I know that things like this have to be used before they know all the effects and complications that can arrise from it but what I've read on this forum is quite shocking. My sympathies to all you women who have had serious complications. It must have been terrible. Reading your stories makes me wonder what the doctors must be thinking at times.
          Peace.

Hey lillithlix, I think the problem is and which kym has explained, there is a "clause" in the law preventing anyone from taking legal action, which needs to seriously be overturned in my opinion.

You are correct, they are still testing, still gaining evidence, of "failed" reports to "try" to correct those failures, which I think frankly are "non-experience" and "not taught properly" rather, here's the "instruction manual" so to speak...

Like everything I think, it's a medical breakthrough, whoo hoo, but guinea pigs are what women are, through trial and error they will get it right "eventually"... that's true about everything is it not? I don't think the idea was wrong, it has worked for many, it's the many that it doesn't work for that is wrong.

Does this mean enough research wasn't actually conducted? Or the ethics of " okay it's approved was wrong" Or, okay, like every test, things can go wrong, so we'll slap a law on it, so that no one can sue?

Don't know but the more I read this and understand it, the more I get more Angry and kym seems to be holdling the brunt on this thread, trying hard to be there for everyone..

Perhaps she needs a "mini me" to help her cope with the "so many" replies of failure? She seems to have studied so hard on trying to give answers to everyone.

I think she asked a page before for people to ban together a little more with getting those answers, I think that she is right.

She was awake for the procedure and they gave six shot in her uterus. We have 5 kids and i always felt bad for pain that you have to go thru with child birth but this was nothing compare to that. My wife is tough and doesn't want to always tell me how bad she is hurting but this had her down for 3 days before she could stand to do anything. I was so upset with this procedure i called her old ob he moved to another clinic about an hour and half away( wonderful doctor) of course he called back right away and was very concern about dawn. He couldn't say a lot because he wasn't there but he did say that he would never go past 30 minutes. He did give us a 100 percent confidence in Mary the new doc that is doing the tubal on Monday. He told me to ask her a lot of questions because she will tell it like it is. After 2.5 hours Dawn said that Mary came into the clinic and she made them quit. I still am very nervous about this monday but dawn is going to try to get her to remove the one that is in there. Mary did ask if she can look at the right side while she is doing the tubal to see what went wrong. I do belief Mary is the head doc of this department and that they did sit down and have a couple of meeting about what went wrong. I am no doc but this should be common sense that if it is not working to just stop. She is feeling a lot better but is still bleeding a little and this procedure was done 8 days ago. I also went to the essure website and on there they have doctors in your area that are certified to do the procedure i did not find the doctor that did dawns procedure on that list. I truly belief that the clinic is trying to cover this up she waited for 3 weeks to get this procedure done but they had her tubal scheduled in a little over a week. Overall I would not suggest this procecure for anyone. I wish i would have done more research. Have a Merry Christmas and I hope everyone is feeling better.

dawnwisconsin, The doctor may have been preceptoring. The requirements to become certified to do this procedure is that they have an essure rep present and actually the rep does the procedure showing the doc. The doctor then does some with the rep observing and advising. From what I have found they only have to be present for 2-3 procedures with the rep doing it and then they only have to do 2-3 procedures on their own to become certified. Total really is about 5 procedures in all. That is observing and performing. They probably had to wait 3 weeks for the rep to be able to be present.

I'd do some research but it sounds like the other doctor may have put your wife in grave danger by using the scope for that long. I'd research and make sure that your wife will not have any long term problems from that much scope time. I also have seen some posts where women have had the removal of the metal coils filmed or pictures taken. You might also want to consider that should your wife have any future problems related to this. I'd request copies of ANY and ALL your wife's medical records relating to this.

I sure did, I was getting such a bad pain on my left side. Docs said my tubes must of contracted and the coil feel out. So obviously the baby was from the healthy tube. How long after you had the essure did you get pregnant? My doc told me to come back in six weeks to redo the procedure, I am not going back i now wish the other one falls out naturally like the one on my lef side. This is to painful. The worst mistake I ever made.

I had my coils removed, and I had it filmed and pictures taken. I also told my doctors that I wanted to keep ownership of the coils but that they could keep possesion of the coils. They are not allowed to discard or destroy the coils, but they can use them for educational purposes. I wanted to keep ownership because I have not made a decision as to whether I will pursue any thyp0e of legal action in the future. So, if you are someone who is having the coils removed, you may want to consider entering into this type of agreement with your doctor. In my case, the pictures clearly show no fault on the part of the doctor who inserted the coils. The problem for me was simply the coils themselves.
