I'm pregnant with essure

Hi to all,

Im new in this thing of posting but I m very concerned about how essure is promoting. I'm 39 years old, high risk pregnancy, have 4 kids and I had the essure procedure done in April of 2009. My youngest child is 11 months and now I'm 5 weeks pregnant and essure told me that they are not responsible so my advice is Dont do it.

I did not experience any pain or discharge the first time I had intercourse after the proceedure. My menstrual cycle shortened by a day and it seemed a bit heavier but the first day cramps didn't last as long. I didn't notice any major physical or mental changes. My doctor instructed me to wait till my follow up visit before having sex which was about a month. She said in most cases they say to wait until the spotting stops but she would rather make sure it's okay than have something go wrong and do further damage. I would just wait till the follow up. As far as having sex without getting pregnant you have to wait till your HSG test three months after. That will confirm that your tubes are blocked. I'm not sure about the accuracy of the pregnancy rate. From everything I've read it's fairly low. The information on the website is based off some older research. They are in the process of doing another research study so I'm sure in another year or two the statistics will change. Unfortunately not all doctors choose to participate in the research studies so the information comes from a select few. My doctor was a University Professor who said she always opts to do the research studies as long as the patients are comfortable with it. I actually started a thread on here about Essure and what to expect. We basically share the experience from the procedure itself to the follow-up, HSG test, and even some stuff afterwards. Each person has a different experience so it can give you an idea of what to expect for the months following.

Sorry butterfly25, There is a law firm that is investigating the essure procedure. The company hides behind nothing is 100%. You definately need to make a report to the FDA. I have posted on that before. If you have any trouble let me know. If you want the law firm info let me know also.

i had my essure done in may of 08 dye test 3 months later everything 100% blocked, nov 2009 6 weeks prego normal pregnancy doctors office says now they thing the place that was doing dye test put dye in too fast and it was opening up the tubes there has been a few cases from that i know of that went to the same place for dye test i have a 2 yr opld daughter 2 stepsons 8 and 7 and two sons 15 and 13 sure didnt want another baby or need one but here we r and going to make the best of it wondering if i could sue the place that did the dye test or essure??

sab1975, It is a blame game. That is something anyone considering this procedure needs to know. The company can blame the failure on the doctors not placing the metal coils correctly, they blame the people performing the HSG test and when all else fails they claim nothing is 100%. The procedure has too many things that can go wrong. First you may go thru the trouble and discomfort of the procedure to find they cannot place one or both of the coils. Second the metal coils may migrate or cause perforations. Third you cannot rely on procedure until you have a HSG that shows both tubes blocked. Fourth if your tubes do not block you have metal coils in your body that can interfere with future procedures that serve no purpose. Fifth you may be confirmed that your tubes are properly placed and blocked but the metal coils migrate at some later point. I am sorry that the procedure did not work for you. You should make a report to the FDA. If interested you can contact the law firm that is investigating the essure procedure for possible legal action. If you need any help with making a report to the FDA or are interested in legal action let me know and I will be glad to help

So frustrated with this right now. I've had 2 pregnancies with this essure. Essure procedure done, Nov 2006, Found out Nov 2007- 3 months pregnant. Did all the testing doctors told me to do. Revisited the aweful Dye treatment again. Dr assured me the coils were in place and there was blockage. Well something is not in place. Once again pregnant for the 2nd time UNREAL. This procedure if you are even thinking about doing it please DONT. You will suffer the consequences. I have been emotionally hurt ... Financially hurt. And now I am going to suffer worse having another child I shouldnt have had. the next 8 months are going to be torcher to me and my family! I am pretty angry at the world. I am sickened by this whole mess. The state of Virginia will not help! They dont believe in Wrongful conceptions! When arguing with your doctor makes them not want to try and help I have been there too. I can no longer fight. I am going to have to sit here and shut my mouth while he does this to more and more women who want no more kids and will have more and more kids. I am sorry for all those this procedure is physicially hurting... all though my pain is emotional ... I feel that your pain is worse than mine because it is a physical pain that wont go away! I am sorry for that. But my emotional pain is tearing apart my whole family! And I dont know how long that can last! And I am scared for my children and how they will have to suffer. It makes me cry all day and all night. I can barely eat I am soo distraut. Yet there is nothing I can do. there is noclass action lawsuit to be a part of. there is no way to sue my dr. I am stuck ! This is sad to me. Very sad and discouraging. Nothing I can say or do can help. This isnt good to my mental health and It is making me think. though I am trying to hold my self together for my children. Struggling because of a doctors mess up that is covered by legal terms and papers he is hiding behind. he says one thing papers say something else. Being screwed wasnt part of the deal. But I hope all of you get something out of this and you actually get to sue!
