One more thing Talulah Pelvic inflammatory Disease can be diagnosed by Falloposcopy it is a visual examination of the inside of the fallopian tubes; it's a simple procedure performed on an out- patient basis you may want to get that done. There is also a newer drug on the market for PID you can ask your doctor about called Floxin that is suppose to help treat PID.

Well PID was mentioned, but they never diagnosed me with PID. All they said was the infection spread to my uterus, scarring both it and my fallopian tubes. If I were to get pregnant, chances are it would be an ectopic pregnancy, where the fertilized egg fails to travel down into the uterus and begins growing in the fallopian tubes. I would hate to get a hysterectomy, but if this doesn't work, what other choice do I have? I'm only 18, so this is pretty lame.
Thanks though. I do plan to adopt!Comment

Talulah All they said was the infection spread to my uterus, scarring both it and my fallopian tubes- in that case it would be PID..I can't think of any other disease they are trying to imply. It's important to not ignore PID and to seek the proper care so this doesnt spread any further for your body. Age unfortante doesn't matter with PID. My friend had a case of it at 21 but the combo antibiotic killed her PID so she didn't have to have a hysterectomy or anything more she can still have kids. It depends how advanced you are. They can do a laproscopy on you to see how much damage it has done and if you need the hysterectomy. But I would def try the drugs before any surgery. Even if you can't have kids which you really don't know for SURE if its that advanced without laproscopy or a Falloscopy to see you havent even had proper diagnosis unless they have really looked to see, so maybe you still have time but taking care of this now whether can have kids or not is going to help your pelvic and any female pains in the future for you, don't wait to get this taken care of the longer you sit on it the more it spreads.Comment

By the way Talulah some doctors really tick my bones hah.. how do they go and tell someone they cant have kids and they are scarred in the uterus and tubes yet have not even diagnosied it yet with the falloscopy or laproscopy or anything. I mean at this point you really don't know how advanced or not advanced you are without any sort of lapro or falloscopy. How can they say you can't have kids without looking inside you lol.. I don't get that. So how are you suppose to know that you have this PID and about the right drugs and new drug out there for treatment or surgery you need if they don't diagnosis you properly. I think if they diagnosed you properly you could of already taken care of things. Ugh ! I've had my share of doctors with lack of sense. Wishing you the best!Comment

It is how things are taught. Booking an appointment takes time and money. Doctors are taught to start with the thing that most closely explains the symptoms, if that does not work then it is move onto the next thing. Medicine is about the process of elimination and treating as soon as possible, quite literally they have a flow chart of symptoms and diagnosis in their head. They just go through with that. You present with everything textbook (which has previously been verified) you are going to be told "there is a good chance you will not be able to conceive". A physician is not going to order a swab that takes 2 weeks to culture in lab and another week to process when they can hand you a quick prescription for a broad spectrum antibiotic. If a procedure requires sedation, even for 10 minutes, it requires booking maybe months in advance. The doctor has to find the time, the nurses have to be booked, the anesthesiologist has to be booked, the procedure must go through the legal portion of signing documents if required, the doctor has to go through the stress of another potential mal-practice suit because the patient is unhappy with the medical results the doctor later gives (often happens) all to find out that a broad spectrum antibiotic or steroid or other drug could have been used instead. If the doctors simply think that the symptoms are drastic enough to send a scope in then that is what they are taught to do and that is what they will do.By the way Talulah some doctors really tick my bones hah.. how do they go and tell someone they cant have kids and they are scarred in the uterus and tubes yet have not even diagnosied it yet with the falloscopy or laproscopy or anything. There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.Comment

I've had BV for about 3.5 years. I didn't always have it. It started gradually and has increased in aggressiveness. I've tried Flagyl several times. I finsh the week of meds, have a great week BV free then once I have sex, it flares up again. It seems to get more aggressive everytime I take meds. It gets worse everytime it comes back. At first it didn't bother me too much, but now i can't stand to smell myself. Its horrible! I tried the acidophilus pills and to no avail, they didn't work. I LOVE yogurt and I eat it everyday and that doesnt work. I tried the unflavored, unsweetened yogurt on a tampon, it didn't work either. I even tried RePhresh. It worked for the first 2 applications, then I started getting the white chunks. So combined with its expensiveness and the white chunks I stopped using it. Now I'm trying Apple Cider Vinegar. I hope it works! (((FINGERS CROSSED))) I took a bath in ACV and it stopped the odor. Now I'm trying the tampon with ACV and water. So I hope it works!!!! If so, I'll follow up and let you ladies know!!!
Oh and I have PCOS. I don't know if that affects it. But I also have high testosterone. My Testosterone is 148 and a normal womans is 6-82. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Surprisingly, I have no cysts in or on my ovaries. Hmmmm..... I am overweight and my midwife says I need to lose weight. I don't ovulate and I haven't had a full cycle in over a year. So as of now, I'm infertile. SMH...so sad....Comment
