also if you get them after your period do you use tampons? They can irritate your bladder wall.

During sex does your partner stimulate your G-spot? This is also against your bladder wall and can irritate it.

If your partner uses his/her hands on you make sure to ask them to scrub their hands well before sex, and to give their genitals a quick wipe.

I know these things can hurt the spontaneity of sex but it can be worth it in the long run. My DH rolled his eyes at me at first but when we talked it out he realized he could do a few things to help and they are working. IN the long run it is better for him because I am not laid up with a UTI all the time, so he gets more sex. Since he keeps himself cleaner it also means more BJ's for him. Double bonus!

Thanks for the advice Nicki215 and PJhavinfunagain! I've been staying away from sex for about a month but I still feel the UTI lingering. I'm wondering if I needed to be on antibiotics longer. I'm in the process of getting an appointment with my GYN but I have to wait a couple weeks to see him. I will keep in mind all those ideas though!

Come to think of it, my UTI's typically do happen right before my period. Since I haven't been having sex we'll wait and see if I can go without a UTI this month!

      Thanks again!

        Elso010,
You may want to go to a urologist and not a family doctor because you may have over active bladder syndrom which makes you urinate more often which in turn is dehydrating you and causing UTI infections. Go on line and look at over active bladder syndrome it's not just an older persons problem.

          frequent uti

I have had 2 uti's in a month and it seems to happen when I have regular ongoing sex. Does anyone know if ( squirting ) or female organsms can cause a uti ??? Because I'm not the kind of person who regularly gets uti's and I've only just discovered how to orgasm I'm worried.

female orgasms are usually caused by rubbing the G-spot. Se above posts for more info...

              Consider This....

I was having VERY frequent UTIs for a few months (3 in 2 months). The doctors I had were just offering the standard solutions: pee, drink cranberry juice, wipe correctly, etc., all of which helps i'm sure, but they kept comming back. After the 3rd one I went and got tested for STDs (Chlymidia has similar traits) and made my boyfriend go as well. Those came up negative, but I knew something was causing them because I had never had UTIs so close together (maybe 1 or 2 a year). Then I zeroed in on my boyfriend and HIS HYGENE habits. He isn't a dirty guy, doesn't smell and takes a shower every day or two. However, I realized if he skipped a couple of days it was enough to get me sick. I had a conversation with him and basically said if he ever wants any action at all he is going to take a shower every day beforehand. I haven't had a UTI since (months).

*Also make sure clothes, bath towels and underwear are washed frequently (yours and his). And make sure that your guy knows that if he wears underwear for even only 5 minutes before taking a shower they are dirty. Obvious, so you'd think.

I was diagnosed with a UTI today after five days of enduring the burning, itching and pain of it. I was given antibiotics (Bactrim I think) and I have to take one pill twice a day, but I wanted to see if there was more I could do to encourage clearing of the infection and preventing another one. I tried the "toilet trick" of facing the wall, and I did feel a little bit more "emptied out," and it felt like the burning was a little bit less pronounced (though still there).

I have a five day regimen of the antibiotics but I was told to call monday and tell them how I was doing. Hopefully this thing clears up! It's awful to have to endure this.
                  Go big or go home!

The first question I have - are you on BCP or any form of hormonal birth control (IUD with hormones, shots, patches?) If you answer yes and you are doing all these other things correct, that is likely your answer. This is one of the side effects of the BCP - synthetic hormones cause on the body. Your best bet it to consider alternative methods. There is an IUD out there that doesn't have hormones and of course many other options as well.

                      I strongly suggest...

I used to get them frequently (like once a month) and was fed up of the numerous doctor visits and antibiotics...with that said I began researching the web and read somewhere that in order to prevent UTIs you must wash after every bowel movement with soap and water. This will eliminate the bacteria that causes UTIs. You may also want to try switching sexual positions however if you wash regularly you shouldn't have any problems. For the record, I have not had a UTI in months!

                      Good Luck!
