Also, to everyone saying masturbating isn't a sin that's not true. It's definitely considered a sin by the Church as you're giving in to your sexual desires that you're supposed to keep repressed until marriage. Even thinking about sex is a sin.

Chloe you've stated this before, it's your opinion...Other's have stated no where in the Bible does it say masterbation is a sin, that's their opinion...Church are what? People....Humans.....not God.

Also, telling anyone to put their virginity on a pedestal like that is a horrible thing. Just think of what happens to believe who believe that and end up losing it to the "wrong person". They regret something so silly like that for the rest of their lives and their is absolutely no need for it. I mean you and your first husband divorced, was he the right one? Is marriage what decides when someone is right or wrong for you? If I marry someone does that automatically make them perfect for me?

No one has "told"...It's the OP's right if that is what she wants to do, it's the poster's right, if they agree that, if that is what the OP wants to do, and even, if that is her belief of how she should do it, they have a right to agree.

Too many people settle in life, they believe that they are in love, or they purely want to be loved, it's a learning curb, which is what life is all about, to learn from one mistake and not to make it again.

I more so believe that you don't cheat on your other half, you don't have sex with another person whilst in a relationship, and if you are being abused, you have a right to leave, and start again...

Let's not take this thread to religion..

Clearly, we all have different views.

And, clearly the OP has opened up and made it very clear, she fears relationships, she fears being cheated on in marriage and she fears that she will never get married as a result and unless she rids of her fear, of what happened in her childhood, she will not get married either.

Masterbation was one component and it's clear that there are more issues here, than that.

No one is telling anyone to go out and have a bunch of unprotected sex with random strangers for no reason at all.

Her choice to follow a religious path is indeed the issue in this situation because by following that path she is making herself feel guilty for doing something that is completely natural.

Actually, it's not my opinion, it's a fact. You can read the bible yourself.

The people in this thread saying masturbation is not a sin don't know how to read in between the lines.

You're not allowed to think about having sex before marriage. If you're masturbating you're obviously thinking about sex or sexual thoughts. I don't know how I can put it any other way.

Then you 're agreeing, it is not in the Bible, as stipulated over and over, in many articles actually, if you google, your actually suggesting that we need to "read between the lines" to get it.

Irrespective, it's not relevant don't you think? What's relevant is what Waiting Impatiently got so far from her thread, and that was, a fear of what occured in her childhood, a fear of getting married and being cheated on, as she saw in her childhood, the effect it had on her Mother and therefore, an expectation that, that will happen to her, a fear that she may not kiss right, a fear that her fears will force her not to date, therefore not marry.

That was her reply...Nothing to do with her origional thoughts, she's progressed onto a deeper inner thought that this Forum has helped bring out.

          Let's stick to topic.

No, it is in the Bible, it just doesn't explicitly say "You can't masturbate". Not like that matters because it probably wasn't even called masturbation back then anyways.

The constitution doesn't say that I can't kill African American males that are ages 40-45, but I'm pretty sure they don't have to worry because the part in the constitution that states we cannot cause harm/kill pretty much has that covered.

So when the bible says it's a sin to even have thoughts of something that is sinful, in this case sexual thoughts when you're not married, they probably didn't think they'd have to compile a complete list of sins.

It honestly has nothing to do with interpretation and everything to do with reading comprehension.

All I'm trying to do is get to the root of the problem. If your forum code of conduct doesn't allow for the problem to be brought up then it's only the OP's loss.

To a religious individual it is logical to feel embarrassed and resentful for a sexual act they have just done because their belief system has brought them to that conclusion. That belief system may not be shared by others but to that one individual whom adopts religion it is pure logic. Religious upbringing will result in common knowledge that applies to their daily reasoning. That common knowledge being the words of the Bible. Religion dose not support the notion of self pleasure, it does not like the idea of sex before marriage. But rarely do people follow that exact message. People get curious just like the OP did. There may be feelings of good or bad after wards that can lead to other questions about themselves as they learn and grow older. That is totally okay. How a person decides to live their lives is their decision. If someone is confused they go to others for guidance, but that does not mean they should at the same time abandon their original beliefs.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
