In the sexual arena, averages don't really mean a lot ....there are guys who can go for a lot longer than that, maybe even enough of them to make it seem like 5 minutes isn't really average, but I assume there are enough one minute guys out there to round it out. The point is, it's not really all that significant unless you're a woman who needs sustained penetration at a certain angle etc. to climax, and guys who worry that they're not Mr. Wonderful because they don't go for hours shouldn't take the tech specs on that one thing so seriously.

Women want you to put in your time at lovemaking as a whole, not just that one part of it.

I know averages aren't everything. It just freakin' amazes me that any man can do what he does on a regular basis. I wasn't planning to say just what constituted "well over the average." But I changed my mind, my best guess for our average is 10 minutes (low balling, no pun intended) . The one time that I recently checked the clock it was 23 minutes. Needless to say it takes him quite a while to "recover" when we have time for a second round. I don't begrudge him that. I'm not bragging. Ok, maybe just a little bit

Does More Sex Mean a More Equal Marriage?

Does More Sex Mean a More Equal Marriage?

Speaking for myself, if we have sex twice or more per week (for at least several consecutive weeks), then I am much more inclined to go out of my way to help lighten her load. However, when I am treated like a roommate that pays all of the bills, then not so much.

The difference in sexual frequency between a household in which a woman does all of the “female” chores and one in which she does none is 1.6 times per month. Obviously, when trying to define what “a little” or “a lot” of sex is, we’re talking about a subjective judgment; however, I think most of us would agree that a difference of 1.6 times per month is far from earth-shattering.
Since when is a 60% increase considered insignificant? Which of the following would you consider insignificant?
            • [**]60% more raisins in your Raisin Brand for the same price
[**]60% more daily calories without gaining any weight
[**]60% more personal free time (less work and chores)
[**]60% more of your favorite TV shows (less commercials)
[**]60% increase on your annual federal and state tax returns
[**]60% increase in your annual salary and bonus compensation
[**]60% increase in average life expectancy
[**]60% increase in breast or penis size (length and/or girth)
              [**]

According to multiple sources, couples in their forties have coitus an average of 69 times per year. Multiplying that by 1.6 yields an average of 110 romps per year. Sign me up for that "far from earth-shattering" result.

Welcome back JonDoe! I think you read the statistic wrong. It's just 1.6 times more per month, not 1.6 X [number of times per month].

I think they are talking about sexual encounters. 1.6 times is not percent. Meaning there were 1.6 more sexual experiences in the month, not 60% more. Of course that's all relative. If you are having sex once a month, that is a huge difference, but if you are having sex 10-15 times a month, then that is not a huge difference. I'm trying to read all the articles in detail. They are very dense and not very clearly stated (this 1.6 being a perfect example).

Ok, now I see it the way the original author most likely intended, even though it is a bit ambiguous. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on perspective, an extra 1.6 sexual encounters per month significantly increases the percentage for me; anywhere from 60% to nearly 500% increase ranging from best to worst years in the past decade. We averaged less than 3 times per month last year, but my wife was so overwhelmed by the frequency of sex. We haven't had sex thus far in 2014 despite going to counseling together and my wife claiming she is "bending over backwards to make our marriage work."

It make me angry. I can't imagine the frustration you're experiencing.

Is the counseling helping at all? The concern I always have is over-analyzing a situation making it worse. But I guess you can't have less sex than none.

You go brag, sister! If you've got somebody who hits it good, that's reason to be proud. (and even a little smug ).
