    Extra dryness after sex?

I dont seem to have an issue with getting wet for or during sex, but I just had sex recently for the first time since getting the iud put in last january. Now, I feel extremely dry to the point where it hurts.
I dont know if this is a side effect of the IUD or something else.
Does anyone else experience this same side effect?

      Mirena

I had my Mirena put in about 3mnths after the birth of my second son, that was back in 2003, the pain was horrible to put it in, but if i had to do it again i would. I had a very long and wonderful experience with mine. Kept it in for 3yrs, had to take it out because i started to have slight break through bleeding with some brown stuff. Had no period for about a year, over all it was wonderful, had no dryness, no infections nothing and my husband never complained.

But or bodies are all different, and so many women cant be wrong about the same side effects, lucky for some of us we escaped them, or you were the unfortunate ones.

I would recommend it on my experience.

        problematic iud

I have had my iud in place for two years now and about five months ago I started to have problems like bad cramps in between periods, spotting, just a feel something is not quite right, weight gain. I went to my family doctor in Febuary they did an exam and everything was fine, but i still feel horrible. Today I went to planned parenthood and they did an exam and checked for infections, no infections but they could not find my stings. So what do I do now?

Well I had the IUD just recently and to be frank, it sucks! I'm basically on my period for three out of four weeks. My parter's pest and I always seem to be in a bad mood now. I have constant cramps that feels like a tiny shock. I had a sono done to see if it was in place and everything seem to be normal. I asked about the period problem and they said to give it some time but my patience is running short. I need to find another method for birth control only that now I'm hesitant in what I should take.
i had an IUD inserted in december 07. i had my period almost constantly for the 3 months following, it was a drag. i was pretty close to having it removed. then in mid-march, it suddenly stopped. i have only had one "pseudo-period" since. it was lighter than usual. so i recommend to give it a go for at least 3 months. it's so nice now to barely ever spot or bleed, and to be able to be more spontaneous. definitely worth the wait!

My daughter who is almost 20, is married and had a baby 8 months ago had the Mirena iud put in to prevent having another baby until she and her husband are ready to try for another. About 2 months after having it put in, she started having major cramping where she will double over in pain and be in tears. She also has major mood swings. It doesn't take much for her to either cry over something or get so upset over the tiniest things. Her physician put her on Lexapro to help her with "postpartum depression". She tried taking the Lexapro for a couple of months which actually made things worse.
She has tried to talk to her physician about having it removed and he insists that the problems she is having is not related to the iud. She is also having problems with nausea, vomiting, cramps, mood swings, low or almost no sex drive, weight gain, etc. She went to the urgent care clinic and was asked by the physician there that if she was having all these problems, why doesn't she get it removed. We told him that basically her doctor keeps insisting that she keep it in and that she will adjust. She is now at the point that she is going to tell him either take it out or she will find someone who will. She was also not told about all the side effects and is suffering. It is difficult to watch her go through all these problems. Plus she gets so frustrated in trying to deal with an 8 month old baby. Her hormones are just a wreck. I don't know if this helps, but I would just suggest that from everything that I have researched this, that if you have any questions if this could do it, the answer that I have come up with is yes the iud has these side effects.

omg!! you all sound like a bunch of babys, I got my first IUD paragard put in the 1984 July yes there is some cramping while its inserted, sucks. but then it goes away, the first year I had sort of heavy and longer periods like 8-10 days total(which includes the starting spotting to the ending spotting), and the cramps where pretty bad for about 2-3 days, advil works no problem. then after that first year I got used to it and I could take it as long as I didn't have to take a pill put in a diaphram and end up prego anyways, LOL and on and on. anyways as far as it was for me I have had nothing but a positive outlook about having an IUD. But I am a very positive person also. And I am strong so I can take many harsh things and envirements. so use your best judgement when knowing yourself.

That's fantastic, we all need to take that attitude, be positive...But, alas, lots of things can bring us down in life, so being "baby" is fine really, until we work it out.

I"m much like you, everything is "positive" but hey, growing, understanding, learning, is also an experience, don't you agree? Which allows us to be more positive.

Wow, I just got an IUD (ParaGuard) last month and so far the only thing I have noticed is lots of pretty intense cramping around the time of ovulation. Hmmm...now what are some symptoms of BV's?? Also, are you really able to feel the strings? I've tried but I'm not really sure if I can feel them...anyone experience that??

I also have the iud and i have had nothing but problems with it..I have had it for almost 3 years now and I thought that all the stuff that i was experiencing was normal..But its not..I bleed every time I have sex..Sex for the most part is painful all the time! My husband can feel it and i can feel him "moving" it during intercourse. I have been to the er a number of times because of it..i was bleeding for 3 months straight and no one could tell me why, they said it was just because it was trying to get used to my body..well its been almost 3 years and its still not used to my body..i would say that i have a wk a month that i dont bleed..it sucks and after reading about everyone else that is having problems with it im making a appt. tomorrow to get it removed. I would rather take the pill every day than deal with this a day longer..I cant wait to get back to normal!! Good luck everyone who has this and If your thinking about getting one please do some real good research about it ( all the pros and cons) personally i think there are more cons than pros..

                      IUD

I just recently got an IUD placed on 9/23/08 and so far its a regret that I am having . My bleeding has just now subsided and I had been bleeding since the insertion . I have also been feeling symptoms of a yeast infection which I don't even know If I am ok to use OTC stuff with an IUD. So far sex has been sort of painful and quite messy!! I am definitely not ready to have another baby at this point, however this IUD has become less popular to me each day. I kind of wished I would have done a lot more research than just jump into the IUD. For all you woman that are thinking of getting an IUD you should greatly appreciate the condom or birth control pills before having a foreign body placed inside of you!!
