But don't you think it's worth a try to go and find out?? Especially at your age?
I would disagree with you that those things make us shallow or not "normal."
Your boyfriend's porn addiction is not caused by facebook or text messages...
I kind of still don't get why you didn't walk out for good yesterday, when everyone around you as well as you yourself is convinced that nothing will ever get better with this guy.Comment

Wow You've completely convinced yourself that this is as good as it gets. That's really sad. Of course there's no such thing as 'normal'. But there are such things as love, respect, caring, understanding, compromise, etc. None of which you are receiving in this relationship and you are dishing out by the barrel.
There are loads of men out there willing and able to give love and respect in a relationship. And even if there weren't, which there ARE, being alone is better than the situation you are in. Why are you so willing to sacrifice your own love and respect for yourself when he's not giving you any?Comment

This is exactly right. But are you going to have the energy and mental HEALTH to focus on yourself when you're with this guy who makes you feel like worthless **** all the time? Who butchers your self-esteem? Your sensuality? I doubt it.
What you said right there makes a lot of sense as the right thing for you to do. You need to focus on yourSELF, on YOUR life, on friends, on your career, goals, etc... and this guy will only bring you down, believe me!
You know what? I think that if you were to leave him and remain single for a while, that would be pretty much the best medicine, the best way to find yourself again, to rebuild, start fresh, and regain that positivity that you once had.
No one is saying you should start looking for a guy immediately after. Life isn't about running around like a chicken with its head cut off, looking for a partner. It's about finding out what makes you happy, what makes you strong, etc, and then finding someone to share it with.
I just think you have so much potential that will go unrealized if you stay in this situation.
And btw this is all meant to be tough love, I hope I'm not coming across too severe.

Who says you have to bother? Why not just make your education, your career, and the things you enjoy doing, the priority. If along the way you find the right man, great, if not, you still have yourself and your happy life.
A relationship should supplement an otherwise happy life, not be the sole or primary reason for a happy life.
Don't stay with him just for the sake of convenience. You owe it to yourself to get out of this unhappy situation. Doesn't mean you have to go on a search for the next guy immediately.Comment
