      On second thought?

      Teacher,

I do not write this to judge you, only to support you by providing an opportunity to educate. Trisomy 13 does not "mean certain death". There are many sources of information that will only state the negative when it comes to diagnoses (pre-natal or otherwise). I know, because they do the same thing with my daughter's condition, Trisomy 21. This literature is designed to scare expectant mothers into terminating their pregnancies.

All 'conspiracies' aside, there are many people that live well with trisomy 13. I believe the oldest is now 28 or so (and going...). Please believe me when I say that there is an amazing amount of love ANY child can bring you regardless of a diagnosis or not. My daughter is such a delight and I know that if she was never in my life, I would be missing out on a wonderful existence!

Now I'm not saying you SHOULD or SHOULD NOT do anything. I'm not advocating that you have a child if you don't want one. But if you (like me) have always dreamed of being a mother, please don't let the naysayers talk you out of what could be the best experience of your life (however it works out).

      -A proud and happy mommy

Oh yeah, I also wanted to point you in the direction of some awesome information from families of people with Trisomy 13. I'm not sure of the rules about links so I won't post one, but google "Living with Trisomy 13". There is an ORGanization that will show up. Check them out. They even show beautiful pictures of children with this condition with their loved ones. Good luck to you and I really do wish you and your family the best!

        Blessings!

            hi Karoper
I am undergoing removal of my fallopian tubes this week because of the Essure devices. My doctor has scared me to death about possible uncontrollable bleeding of the uterus once they are removed. His plan is to cut off the tubes and pull out the devices if they are artially in my uterus. My symtpoms started about a week after the procedure and have worsened ever since. I know my doctor is just telling me the risks of the procedure, but it has scared me, but I too like you have weighed the consequences and I do not want to live with the pain anymore. I read that your symptoms went away after the procedure. I am hoping that mine do to. I have had cramping in my abdomen and lower back and legs muscle weakness, along with just plain tiredness. I do not have any problems of bleeding like many others state they do, so I guess that is what worries me. I am excited to have my life back again, but scared also that this is not the cause of the pain and will have to undergo more doctors. My doctor that is removing them is hoping that once he takes them out, I will be ok, but he has also warned me that it is possible that the symptoms will not go away. I guess I am just scared and paranoid that something will go wrong!!! Any advice? How long did it take before you knew your symptoms went away after surgery to remove them?

this is a really touching story, and i feel for you, i have never even heard of essure, but i live in rurual ireland, so med had a bit of catching up to do! I have four kids, and seem to not be able to stop having kids. which is a nightmare. for me.
Im sorry that what you guys have tried has not worked, and would you consider adoption? im sorry if i seem insensitive, but there are ways of having a wonderful wanted child, without the horrid process you guys have to keep putting yourselves through? the hormone replacements, appointments. Keep me posted, and let me know how you get on. Im really touched by your story and hope you both do well.x x

I wanted to tell you that Essure is not a form of having a child, It is a method of birth control that is permanent. By reading your post and you brought up adoption made me think that you are on the thought of it being a form of having a child.

I was one of the women that took part in a clinical trial and have never had a problem since. I did feel some cramping etc right after but the symptoms were gone the same day. At the time I was told that it could "maybe" be reversed but it would be difficlut. Since that was not an issue for me I decided to proceed. I have been very happy with this system. I can tell you that I was very well informed on the device itself, what it was made of etc. I dont remember nickle being part of that, but I can only assume the device changed over time.

what can i say, not the best educated out of my bunch! i must ask my doctor, of this essure! i am getting my tubes tied eventually, they wont do it, as im only 25 even though i have four (lovely) but tiring kids, i want to go back to school and try new things. And make a career for myself, apart from being an artist who does the car boot with the kids, lol. And making enough to buy a coffee and a hot dog for each of the kids. I never got to start my adventure. And i am hoping i can turn it into a reality. xxx sorry for my lack of good knowledge rofl. x

                      Well Ladies

I went in to surgery yesterday on June 10 to have my Essure devices removed. My dr and I both agreed they are what was causing me pain. Well I came out of Surgery with the DEVICES STILL IN!!! My doctor said he did not see anything to cause the pain to take them out...However he did find an ovarian cyst and a polyp on my uterus that he removed and thought was causing my pain. We shall see, but I did not have this pain until the devices were put in!!!! I do have soreness from the surgery and the only pain I have is the pain that I went in to have the surgery for!!!!
I don't know what to do or where to turn now!!!!
